The schedule allows for a swap of venues very nicely, especially for us. Sox are coming home after this series anyway. In August, they host the Twins for 3 games immediately before going on the road to Cleveland. That could become a road-trip-starting four game series in Minn (with a 9 inning doubleheader). Clubs can fly to Boston today and play in Fenway tomorrow and Thursday. The third home game would would be on August 23, a home off day for the Sox and a travel day (from NY to Boston) for the Twins.
Twins would have to fly from Boston to Anaheim after Thursday's game. In August they'd play the Yankees in NY on the 22nd, the Sox in Boston the next day, then both clubs would fly to Minn for the makeup of the 4 games there. That's just starting a homestand early for them.
This is easy. Alternatives are poor.
(You could start the Minn series on the 23rd and put the doubleheader in Fenway tomorrow, but that would likely be 7 innings, and that really sucks. It also gives neither team time to set their rotations.)
....Eric, what about the Red Sox fans who bought and paid for tickets to those games!!!!! You are punishing them for rioters in Minnesota NO WAY!!!!! Minnesota losses the games. They should haves the series to Boston. There are plenty of empty seats in the Twins stadium for their fans to go to other games.

Assuming the rotation stays the same order, I like the idea of doing the doubleheader tomorrow. Not that their arms aren’t fresh after two off games in the last four days, but that would give the best projected bullpen use. Perez gets the 9 inning game today and will give you innings. Eovaldi and E-Rod get the 7 inning games tomorrow. You could conceivably see Eovaldi get the CG and then the Sox can continue to bring Rodriguez along slowly and maybe stick to 4-5 innings depending on pitch count. If he goes longer, great. If not, then that’s less innings on your bullpen.

Doubt it gets played, tomorrow either. How many other games in Twin Cities get cancelled this year and around the country? Not looking to incur the wrath of Norm or anyone else again with regards to what is going on in that city. Maybe the Twins should play the rest of their games (home) at Hammond stadium, Ft Myers? no interruptions will happen there, except for rain.

I'm assuming the 1pm is central time. Meaning a 2pm start here.

If there are going to be mass cancellations around the country, as your crystal ball shows, how do you know there won't be any in Fort Meyers? Come on, man.

I'd noted that this weekend seemed a good time to insert Houck into the rotation anyway to get everyone an extra day. With the doubleheader tomorrow, it may be even moreso. However, given the forecast in the Boston area for Friday, they may not need to do anything.
As I also noted on Twitter, though, you could also use Whitlock tomorrow on 5 days' rest. But given that he's basically the 7th inning guy now, I could see that being less palatable than it was two weeks ago.

How does that make him the "7th inning guy"? Isn't he being used as a multi-inning reliever?
ADD: Come to think of it, wasn't Andriese signed to be the swingman?

Perez today, Eovaldi/Rodriguez tomorrow, Richards Thursday. Without a rainout, I'd presume Houck Saturday or Sunday, although I guess, per Alex, he threw on Saturday at the Mets' ATS, so not sure how they'd finagle lining him up.

No wish to sidetrack any thread. I've got to ask however if have ever spent any significant amount of time in Florida, Texas.. Those kind of states? Your question would be moot if had and not made. It's just not going to happen, outside of "possibly" locally isolated 1-2 cities and then, would not last long before having an end put to. I agree with Chris on getting Houck another start soon. Rodriquez maybe the 1st 2-3 months coming back shouldn't be on a 5 man schedule more than once thru the rotation, then given an extra day, or just skipped. Am also curious if Bazardo is tops on the list of AAA relievers since he has options and Gonsalves and Mccarthy do not??

How does that make him the "7th inning guy"? Isn't he being used as a multi-inning reliever? I was using it as shorthand for the guy they'd go to in front of Barnes and Ottavino close and late. Didn't literally mean one-inning reliever used only in the 7th inning. His use in his last game seemed to cement that Cora considers him someone to go to when it's close to get to those guys.

Am also curious if Bazardo is tops on the list of AAA relievers since he has options and Gonsalves and Mccarthy do not?? No question. They're not going to DFA someone to have Kevin McCarthy be the 10th guy in the bullpen for a doubleheader. It's interesting to me that they're apparently going to use Bazardo rather than Brewer. Seems clear the thinking is that being on the taxi squad means you're someone the team doesn't mind having that much downtime (as opposed to making sure Bazardo got reps at the ATS and probably in the Mets games this past weekend). That said, they maybe see this as an opportunity to get him into the doubleheader to get his feet wet for when they want to call him up for good.

I've lived in both Florida, Tx, Arizona, etc. I now live back home in MA. You make no sense there. Back to baseball. Let's go Sox!!

Someone asked last week why all the games were scheduled for afternoon this series. I had been searching around but couldn't find anything on the internet.
A coworker of mine is a season ticket holder and just mentioned to me that they were moved to day games because of the Chauvin trial and not knowing what would happen or when the verdict would be. The Hennepin county courthouse is a few blocks away from the stadium.
The next few series for the Twins are weekends, the next weeknight game isn't until the beginning of May.

This isn't geography class. We don't need comparing narratives about Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Massachusetts... We also have no idea of the details surrounding the shooting outside of what's been reported. Stay away from the conjecture about bad cops, criminal rioters and any other guesswork. This isn't a legal proceeding either.
