Am I missing something with Renfroe? He looks terrible and has less upside than Franchy. Why keep Renfroe if he is going to hit .150 with average defense and baserunning? If Renfroe were having his average season he would be hitting around .230 and on pace to hit around 30 HR while playing a better than average RF. Unfortunately he's been horrible so far. I assume the Sox will give him some more run as at 29 he should be in his prime. That is a little deceptive. He last hit over .230 4 years ago. He’s hit 30 HRs once. You can say 162-game average... but when guys are being used in platoons or select matchups, those averages don’t account for the drop off when they face all pitchers. Second half of 2019, Renfroe’s splits: .161/.263/.299 2020-2021: .163/.251./.354. That is 116 games out of a 450 game career. It is tough to see him being the guy he was for about 2 years again. At least Franchy is a project with future payoff (potentially). Renfroe is out after this year.

I understand giving it another month or so but Franchy and Renfroe have both been terrible, to the point even a replacement level guy would be a big upgrade. I’m not sure how much longer than that you wait to replace that poor production. I would not give either another month. They have options, so I would option them as soon as Santana and Munoz are ready. DFA Brewer if need be. Switch Mata to 60 day DL if necessary. On the morning of April 30, 2021 I would not think a single person on earth would have guessed the six division leaders would be: Bos, KC, Oak, Phi, Mil, and least of all SF (considering LAD have been to 3WS and 1 NLCS in the last 4 years).

That said, I think he needs to be spotted against lefties. If they do that perhaps they can get some value out of him. Maybe he'd be better than the Mendoza line with some good power and defense, which can be useful in a platoon. He needs to stop getting ABs against righties - immediately.

I don't know if Renfroe is even worth it against lefties anymore. Last year he went only 6 for 41 against them, though he amusingly still had an OPS of .806 because the 6 hits were 5 home runs and a single. He's a fascinating player in a weird way, but I really don't want to see him on the team anymore.

Keep counting the days down till Duran comes.
Also I like Dalbec moving up to the seven spot.

Shockingly, the ump appears to have a moving strike zone.

Heeeyyyy.... did this guy pitch for the Red Sox last year? 91 mph fastball? Little spinner curve? Looks so familiar.

I’d have walked JD. Then X. Then Devers. Take my chances with CVaz, Dalbec, Renfroe with bases loaded.

I haven't paid attention to how the the new Rangers barn plays, but hoping between the warmer weather and Rangers staff we get some HRs from our boys this weekend. Dalbec getting hot, JDM and Devers grooving... One of Franchy/Hunter making some solid contact. Turn those doubles into Dingers! Unleash the long ball!!! RT

It is hard for me to imagine living in Texas and thinking “hey, it’s 98 degrees and humid... let’s go to the ballpark and watch Joey Gallo walk or strikeout!”

Nate doesn't look quite right tonight, but the outfielders have been running down some tough plays for him.

You know things are rough when you can look at a combined 0-6, 2 K night for Franch-en-Froe and say “better!”

Looking forward to Santana and maybe Munoz Martinez, X, Devers have all the hits. It seems that is all that matters. They pretty much could have raffled the other roster slots over the winter.

Offense went to sleep again after the early barrage. Except for the starting pitcher, they have been shut down like all the recent games. That Yang should be up for the Cy Young award.
