They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

If you had told me that on May 3rd the Red Sox and LA Dodgers would have the same record i would not have believed it! That said, after the last two games in Texas that the Red Sox should have won, they need to play a team do as bad as the Tigers.....and still the Red Sox are only 1/2 game behind the best record in the mlb. This year may have the greatest number of teams actually in contention deep into the season.....lots of trade deadline buyers and few sellers could make for an interest race all the way through the entire season!

All 3 games look like they should be easy wins, so I'm ready to watch 3 losses.

I know Pivetta and Pérez aren't our best starters, but Detroit's offense is batting under .200 lmao. If these aren't games that should be easy wins, what is?

Nice to see Fulmer off to a respectable start, he’s had a tough go of things recently

I mean, Detroit's bats stink. There's no getting around that. But Mize is a much better pitcher than his early-season numbers and Fulmer obviously has a history of success. Mize has been very inconsistent, very good-to-excellent in three of his starts and lit up twice. And opponent quality doesn't seem to matter, the good starts were against Minnesota, Houston, and Chicago, the top three run-scoring teams in the AL.

last series of a long road trip. just focus on the fundamentals and bring good energy to the ballpark. The opponent not being that good is secondary.

To give Hairps another plug for the Opener podcast, one of the stats they gave one morning was the projected WAR from the Tigers offense was something like 10 or 11, which said differently is the equivalent of one Mike Trout. It's just a shame the Angels have supported Trout with the 3rd worse pitching staff in MLB (via fWAR) during his career. If only they used those Pujols dollars on pitching.

That seems like a lesson finally learned. I am guessing his plane ticket to Worcester is already booked.

Kiké leading off, Renfroe, and no Devers... this lineup looks like a bowl of puddin' against righties.

Miggy is sad to watch at this point. He's fat and has no bat speed. He has two years left after this one at $30M/per. That contact was GM malpractice by D-Dom.

Pivetta appears to have almost no idea where the ball is going. Luckily he has pretty good stuff.

If Devers can't play and Cordero isn't good enough to play then the bench is Plawecki, correct? They're playing with a one-man bench so that they can pitch Austin Brice and Philips Valdez once a week?

You’re not wrong, but the positional flexibility of Hernandez, Gonzalez, Arroyo and Verdugo does mitigate it somewhat.
