How many times has Chavis hit a HR on a pitch that high before? Might be a good sign

It’s very cool to see Chavis go deep in his first game up this year. Good for him.

The Ice Horse serves notice! Who said that Chavis should not be in the mix for a roster spot?

Great to get production from bottom of the order. Last few games. They’re coming around

How many times has Chavis hit a HR on a pitch that high before? Might be a good sign Chavis has issues with high velocity — this guy is not throwing hard. Him laying off the earlier high fastball might actually be the better sign. If he can make guys with better stuff bring pitches down a bit, he’ll be in much better overall shape.

It's a beautiful May weekend, the Orioles truly suck, Chavis bombed one, and their pitcher is not long for the majors. You can feel confident, get your favorite beverage, and then take your shoes off and put your feet up, 'cause its time to meet up with the Boston born and Boston bred Sox. In other words, Relax, Relax and be a Sox watcher. (And no, I'm not old. Why would you think that?)

It kind of blows my mind that in 2021, Hunter Renfroe can be a corner outfielder hitting .218/.263/.356 and that's good enough to be above replacement level. In 1999 Dante Bichette hit .298/.354/.541 and put up negative 2 WAR. In defense of Renfroe, he has driven in 16 runs from the bottom of the order, at a rate that equates to 100 RBIs for a full season. And he is a damn good RF. OK, he is not Dewey let alone Mookie, and I get that your comment is not a criticism, but for a guy hitting in the lower third, all I want is for him to keep it up.

The Orioles should ask MLB if they can just set up a tee at home. Might be their #3 starter.

i didn't even know Chavis was called up....slippin'. Good for him. he is basically the same age as Dalbec. We could have some nice pieces that are entering their supposed baseball prime. Fingers crossed !!

O’s pitcher has a 10+ ERA, 2+ WHIP in 11 games. Hypothetically, what % of position players do you think could do just as well?

The advanced stats had him as an average corner OF and I'd rate him better than that after watching him play a bit. They control his rights for two more years, so I'm rooting for him to hit a bunch of bombs this year.

Is there any team with a better four hitter stretch than Verdugo/JD/Xander/Devers? The Dodgers offense has been slumping, but when they're right Mookie/Seager/Turner/Muncy might be the only contender.

Well seeing as the bottom half of the lineup has issues with any velocity, id say chavis would be an upgrade.

Tuning in late, but that guy Verdugo seems pretty good. Glad Chavis has a HR. This team really needed an easy win. Hopefully the pitching doesn't give it back.

Sox got to do this, but in the past 5 games, they have faced 15 pitchers (obviously some repeat) with ERAs over 5.00 this season.
In a way, it feels like the real season hasn’t started. Sox getting the Farmers and Lowthers, and the Yankees have played fewer games against the Os, only 2 against the Tigers, none against the Rangers.

All true, but the list of 'aces' they've beaten this year is also kind of long.

That was about as important as a double play in a seven-run game can be. Excellent play.
