They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Is this the first time the Sox face Manaea since the no-hitter he threw against them in Oakland in 2018? Looks like he's all the way back from his injury.

For those of you who'd relegated the As to the bottom of the barrel, they've floated to the top as they so often have done. Instead of worrying about what players can't do, Oakland figures out what they can and then puts them in a position to do it. There aren't many easy outs in their lineup.

Everyone in Boston knows you always take the Indiana State guy. Unfortunately they did, just lower case S. Bassitt has reeled off 4 straight good starts. I'm interested to see how they fare with him.

Bassitt is a really good pitcher, he doesn’t get talked about a lot but when he’s healthy he’s a bonafide #3 (at least). Just knows how to pitch
This series will be a good one. Hopefully they can keep the train moving and take 2 here

Duran hit 2 HRs today in the AAA home opener at Worchester. He now has 3 HRs in 7 games.....BA .286 and OPS .962.
Marcus Wilson also homered and has 2 HRs.

Eovaldi cruising. He’s about to go third time through... this is when trouble can creep in.

We were worried about a pitching staff anchored by Nate Eovaldi. Turns out the sky wasn’t falling.

We were worried about a pitching staff anchored by Nate Eovaldi. Turns out the sky wasn’t falling. I don’t know if that sums up the concern... after all, he “anchored” last year’s staff. I never wanted him as a #1... (as much because I feared the drop off after!), but if he is like 3, great. Luckily, he’s been better than expected.

I posted that to make a couple of points in a concise way. 1. He’s been pretty good 2. So has the rest of the starting staff.

So if Cordero was not the centerpiece of the Benintendi trade, then why is he on the MLB club right now and not in AAA?

So if Cordero was not the centerpiece of the Benintendi trade, then why is he on the MLB club right now and not in AAA? Or... unless he was just a throw in, could they have gotten*anything* else? This is the paradox: if both teams viewed him as only a tiny piece, why start the season with him as your LF (and not much back up); if they thought he was valuable (hence, major league starter), does that mean people will be disappointed by the remaining value?

I will confess: I’ve been hard on Eovaldi historically, but I am 100% on board now. The guy looks so good, so in control.
