For a HS kid so advanced he played on the taxi squad spring camp, Yorke sure is having a hard time adjusting to low A ball. Not just .159 BA, but lots of Ks. I had a expected him to jump right into that level. Yea Yorkes been underwhelming so far based off what the reports were from being at the ATS last year but still just a 19 year old kid playing his first ever pro baseball games. Lots of season left for him to start to show that promise we've heard about.

I’ll be at the Sea Dogs tonight so it would be really considerate for Casas to run last night back How did Thad look? Line is pretty nice for tonight

Line is pretty nice for tonight Kind of hard to tell the cutter and slider apart from my seat but those were working. Fastball command just wasn’t there. Every time he tried to paint the corners he was off of the plate and not getting swings. But I guess the good news there is that he still made it work, which will have to be the case because I don’t see that being his pitch in the majors. Love Ward though. He’s why I chose this game over the previous two. I have a soft spot for Hadlock, but as a CT native I have to say I do love Dunkin Donuts park and I had many, many doubts. Just an awesome environment and I’ve seen both teams tonight be so nice with the younger fans. The Brendan Rodgers and Ryan McMahon teams went nearly as cool the past few years.

The best part of that video is the announcer saying you better keep it up and Duran still hits it country mile.

For anyone who's STILL questioning whether Duran's power spike is real...well.

For anyone who's STILL questioning whether Duran's power spike is real...well. For anyone still questioning whether Duran is ready for the show, well read the box score. My mother could hit better than Franchy. Duran will make us forget about him.

Not questioning just surprised by it. Like I was with Nomar/Ellsbury. Obviously the stance change is working. That was a blast.

For anyone who's STILL questioning whether Duran's power spike is real...well. This is pretty cool. I remember Keith Law, for one, being skeptical about his power when he didn't really show it in Puerto Rico or wherever it was over the winter. But jeez, that freakin' bomb right there... and 4 in his first 9 games at AAA...

Duran now at .314 / .400 / .686.
But .458 / .536 / 1.000 in 28 PA since starting the season 0/11.
When the season started Kiley McDaniel at ESPN listed the 45 prospects he was most excited to see this year. He mentioned neither Duran nor Casas (or anyone else from the Sox).

This is a good visual to what I meant. Coiled —> uncoiled in a blink and unleashed a bomb. As long as he can make consistent contact the sky is the limit

Interesting. Duran hasn't been flying under the radar for a while now after crushing it in the playoffs for Puerto Rico and then in spring training.

As a Sox fan, it's my divine right to be a homer. I'm 100% on the Duran train! All aboard. ' 440 feet! if his added power doesn't hurt his hit tool this kid is going to be a stud. Never would have thought that when they gave a college bat slot in the 7th round.

Fun to watch the Drive hit barrage at Fluor after the previous night's drought.
Cam Can a triple short of a cycle looks like he's making progress. Murphy effective in his start. Home scoreboard did not record a 90+ pitch but he worked the edges well to get the win. Elih Marrero made an outstanding throw to 1B after a swinging strike to nail the Brooklyn runner trying to get back.
Sogard had a good night with a three hits, Osinski a long 3 run homer line drive to CF.

I’ll be at the Sea Dogs tonight so it would be really considerate for Casas to run last night back How did Thad look? Line is pretty nice for tonight I also attended game 3 of the series (sorry I missed you Nomar, I was behind home plate again). Thad pitched mostly by the book, starting batters with the fastball and finishing them with breaking pitches. Of his 7 K's, 5 were swinging, all on off speed(85 85 81 83 85). The fastball sat 93-96. He touched 97 twice but they resulted in back to back line drive hits for Melendez (double) and Mclaughlin. I had him for 4 more swings and misses besides the strikeouts and 13 foul balls that batters were mostly late on. I missed the Adames acquisition and was shocked when his first pitch registered 100 and wondered if it was a mistake. He hit 100 5 more times and 101 twice but had a lot of trouble finding the strike zone. John the scout mentioned to me he is less impressed these days with velocity and more interested in command. Thanks for posting the Casas home run. He laid off a couple curves from the lefty in that at-bat before getting the 93 fastball in the hitters count. It was a hard ground ball single in the first between 1st and 2nd (no shift tonight) off an 82 curve. Baldwin almost took an 89 fastball out to center/right center, hitting about 15 ft high on the wall above the 388 mark. He has the arm to play third, but has bounced some throws the last two days. Hernandez crushed an 80 curve just fair the down the line in left for a long homerun. He also showed a strong arm gunning down two on steal attempts but I asked John for the pop times and he said it was a below average 2.15 indicating a slow transfer. Maybe Tek can work with him on that. The Hartford pitchers were all topping out at about 93 last night. The Yard Goats game information program has their all time record against Portland since 2016 as 53 and 31. I think the Sea Dogs will be narrowing that gap this year.

In fairness he kinda sucked literally everywhere after he was picked. People were absolutely right to question a no defense/no run 2B who was struggling to do the one thing he was drafted for (hit)
