Counter fun, Jeter Downs start. 0.176 / 0.282 / 0.206 / 0.488 with 17K's in 34 ABs. I'll look at the half full part of the glass and like the .106 IsoD despite having only 56 AA Plate Appearances. It'll take time but he'll be fine. He struggled with the bat during the entire ATS last year. The other hand, his defense at both 2B and SS looked much better than I was anticipating, he made several spectacular plays.

Bello is super interesting. Good reports from instructs and minor league spring training. He's Rule 5 eligible this fall, so more starts like this could make it an easy decision for the Red Sox.

I like that changeup, good arm side fade.

Kutter Crawford fell out of the top 60 after his Tommy John, but if he keeps pitching like he did in his first start he’ll be making it back. I thought he looked really good. He worked mostly off his fastball. Of his 48 pitches, I had 35 of them at 92-96 (I did miss one pitch). Six of the seven k's were swinging and he had a total of 15 swings and misses. He threw the fastball mostly up in the zone and the Yard Goats batters helped him some chasing up. He struck out Snyder, his last batter in the fourth, on a 78 curve. All others were on the fastball. The homerun in the first by Montero, their number 9 prospect, was off an 88 cutter that just cleared the wall in left. After Reyes threw a curve in the dirt to his third batter, I realized Crawford never threw a non competitive pitch. A big play for Crawford came on his one k he caught Golden looking in the third. It was first and third one out with a 3-2 count. Golden took a close pitch that looked outside and got rung up on a late call. Montes running on the pitch got called out on a close play at second that he complained was wrong. Golden stayed and talked with the home plate ump for quite a while about the called strike and I thought he might get tossed but didn't. When Reyes K'd him in the eight, Golden had the golden sombrero. Rosario lined the first pitch fastball by Dennis into left for a single. After a bases loaded walk in the third, he K' swinging on a curve in the dirt, k'd looking on a Todd curve that dropped in, and swinging on a 96 fastball from Aybar. Besides two line singles for Castellanos, he hammered a ball with two out and two on in the ninth that was caught by Bouchard crashing into the wall. Casas had a great battle with Dennis in the third with a 9 or 10 pitch at-bat with the bases loaded. It ended with what sounded like a broken bat line drive to left that just fell in front of a diving Bouchard. In his last at-bat in the 7th against the lefty Todd, he just missed lining a double down the left field line by a foot before grounding out to short. His strikeout was on 93 up out of the zone. It was a tough ending to the game for Portland. With two outs and two on, George hit a slow roller to 3rd that Nishioka had no play on. With the bases now loaded, the pinch hitter Czinge tried to check his swing on a 3-2 pitch that he looked to commit on, but the ump ruled no swing. That brought up Montes and he smoked a line drive to the left center gap that ended it. Their was much rejoicing in the park over the comeback but not by me.
