It looks like a slider in Redsoxstats compliation
If it is that’s a really promising development- 97-99 with a plus change and an average at worst slider is a good starting pitchers arsenal. Seems like he throws strikes too. There’s a lot to like about the kid

Whoops, let me post that compilation now. See last post on previous page for the question I posed.

Very hard for me to detect any difference in his arm motion with each of the three pitch types. Looks like fastball/changeup/breaking ball. I see different movement on that last type so they may be different pitches. Hard to tell at this resolution. I did notice one elbow crank at the very end of what looked to be a hard slider with break to the glove side, but that was about it to my untrained eyes. The stuff looks devastating to the class of hitters he's facing. Baseball America has a feature on 28 prospects - what scouts saw from each in spring training. Bello is one of them:

He definitely doesn't look like he's maxed out physically, so perhaps there is an ability to hold the 97-99 as he continues to add strength.

I like it!
Also, curious when the last time Prospects Live peeps have seen Bello. Have they seen him this year? If so, why do they still he's more of a reliever? From what I recall hearing (and seeing) this year, his change is potential plus pitch (along with his fastball) and his slider has ticked up, too, and should be an above average weapon.
Reliever isn't out of the question, but it seems he's trending more towards starter this year.

I really like the quick promotion. He's not necessarily young and is Rule 5 eligible (basically a lock to get protected now), so why not give him a good test for the rest of the season. Also basically opens up a rotation slot for Gambrell.

Guess that clears the G'ville rotation spot for Gambrell. Meanwhile that Portland rotation was pretty thinned out by injuries. It looks like the beginning of promotion season is upon us.

So FWIW, I don't think the Bello promotion is technically official yet and wonder if someone jumped the gun. We still don't have a Portland countermove, the Portland and Greenville rosters would be one over and one under the limit otherwise, and the transaction still isn't in the Portland game notes. Among other things.
I wonder if the plan is Bello goes up to Portland once Gambrell is ready, and they made a last minute decision to wait?

Maybe there is a AA pitcher who they're waiting to promote to Worcester? Winckowski pitches today.

I could see Blair maybe going back up? Adames has also been good as their closer and has hit triple-digits.

I was at Hadlock for his first Double-A start. Fastball is legit weapon, though I think there was some overthrowing/yanking in the first. I believe the Hadlock gun had him sitting 97. Some innings were extended by plays not being made behind him that possibly would have been at higher levels. This probably contributed to the early exit, given the extra stress of longer innings. He hit a wall quick in his last inning, fastball speed dipped, but the offspeed didn't, shrinking the speed variance and accuracy left. Based on the box score, he was better in his second start, so a lot seems attributable to the level change and getting acclimated. This is me being picky and honest, but overall left very excited by his stuff. I haven't been too excited by pitching prospects in recent years, so he is a breath of fresh air.

Does anyone have a fix on Bello's projected start in the upcoming Fisher Cats series? I couldn't find it on a quick check. Thanks for any help you can provide.

That is an amazingly filthy changeup. Most of those swings and misses were on check swings. It has a different shape than any that I've seen. And I just learned that his last name is pronounced Ba-yo.

Pedro's and every other great changeup looks like it's on a string and is pulled back before it gets to the plate and drops at the last second because it seemingly slows down at the last instant. Bello's change just looks completely different. It looks like it's getting faster at the end when it drops down quickly.
