Kyrie doing Kyrie type crap still. What an absolute buffoon.

Make sure y’all tell me when we start the Celtics season thread…
Hard not to like what we’ve seen from Nesmith so far.

This looks like a much deeper team than last year, which bodes well for a long and COVID-filled regular season. Ultimate ceiling will still depend mostly on Tatum and Brown (with a splash of Timelord mixed in), but I think they have a pretty high floor.

I’ve always felt the Celtics title hopes relied on Tatum and Brown, much to many peoples chagrin here. Tatum is still on the young side to be leading a team to a title, but I’ll be looking for maturity this year on the court. Moving towards a more veteran game that knows how to win games. Can he get to the line more to get easy points? Can he up his assists to around 6 a game? Can he pick his spots between deferring and taking over? Can he improve his body language?

Kyrie doing Kyrie type crap still. What an absolute buffoon. Such an attention seeker nets aren’t going to be offering him an extension, per Shams. File that under “shocking” lol

File that under “shocking” lol Durant and Harden should be able to win a title together, but losing Kyrie’s salary slot with no way to replace it, is a massive blow to them.

I wonder if this presents an excuse to trade Kyrie.

It was fun watching our young guys keep up with the actual Magic team. When you didn't have Tatum, Brown, Horford, Smart, Richardson or Schroder playing.

I wonder if this presents an excuse to trade Kyrie. The issue is who wants him? Unless the plan is to just dump him for whatever, I’m not so sure there is a trade to be had. And even if you were to just dump him, who would actually want him? Seriously asking. Is there a team out there that would take a chance on him, even at a minimal cost? Dallas maybe?

Smart given 1 game suspension by Udoka for missing team flight. This bodes well - I doubt Stevens would have done this.

Great to see!! It is important to me that he is a tough leader and demands it. The players wanted him and I hope he isn't going to be too much of a players coach, hold them accountable. It seems to me like the core will respond well to that and thus so will everyone else. As deep as they seem to be if they can maintain that defensive intensity more thru out the season that we know is hard to maintain it will be their identity. That and pace of play. We just watched the 2nd unit play Orlandos 1st team and they would have won if PP didn't get his nose broken. If everyone brings the D and they run it should be fun.

Can we at least acknowledge that Orlando was also missing a few key players last night?

Can we at least acknowledge that Orlando was also missing a few key players last night? What like based on upside? Suggs might be a great player in time. Fultz and Isaac haven't played in a long time and there more like role players. Even then it likely means less minutes for guys like Anthony and Hampton who have had their moments so far this preseason. You have two teams where I can't even decide who the best player is, Spurs and Magic.

I don’t feel like going down a rabbit hole on the role of those guys on this years Magic team.

Report from Ramona Shelburne that Ben Simmons tried to take a COVID-19 exposure prior to game 7 against the Hawks so he didn’t have to play.

Tendonopathy for Williams might be concerning as it apparently is a structural degeneration or weakening of the tendon rather than inflammation that can be treated with steroids or NSAIDS. It's a relatively common condition related to stress on the patellar tendon from jumping. As I recall, Williams has had knee issues in the past, so perhaps this is a repetitive thing and may bear watching. www.healthline.com/health/tendinopathy

Benching Smart for a team violation & Williams for whining is a good start, I would like to see him do the same for Tatum. He spends too much time complaining the the refs, I would like to see him get past all that and just play his game. I would like to see him cut down on his turnovers also.

It’s easy to bench Grant Williams, let’s see how he does with Tatum. That’s the test.
