Fun facts to know and tell: Mookie Betts hit his 6th homer of the year on Thursday. He has yet to hit one with runners on, with 2 outs, or with his team trailing. He has three leadoff homers (including the last one), a homer leading off the bottom of the 3rd with the Dodgers up 2-0, and two with 1 out in the top of the ninth with the Dodgers up 4-1 and 9-1.
I don't have to tell you what Christian Arroyo has done with his three homers, all in his last 8 games. Mookie's 6 have been worth a total .403 wins by WPA. Christian's 3 have been worth .817.
Yeah, the Sox hate lead off home runs. Or hits. Or walks.

Awesome win last night! Exciting and you could feel it coming. They had no business winning that game whatsoever, but they got the clutch relief outs they needed.
And I gotta say - I was arguing with somebody who was comparing Nate Eovaldi to Tyler Chatwood and I've seen Eovaldi at his worst and he was nowhere near as bad as Chatwood was last night. Chatwood couldn't have pitched in a little league game last night he was so bad.
I have to say - I was totally wrong about the Jays. Of course I assumed a healthy Springer, an impactful Nate Pearson, and Yates heading up the bullpen, so I figured they would finish ahead of the Red Sox. Nope. Their pen is horrendous. The only thing I did get right was the breakout by Vlad Jr, which any 5 year old could have predicted. Losses like last night are why the Jays aren't going anywhere.
As awesome as the victory was last night, they can't live life in the post-season spotting other teams 3-0 leads. Those teams will have better bullpens to hold leads. Garrett Richards can't keep walking the tightrope as he has. At some point he'll fall off if he lives life that way. I hope he figures it out.
And oh yeah, I really do like Christian Arroyo. He should pretty much be their every day 2b and bat leadoff until Duran shows he can do it.

The amazing thing about Richards is that for all his trouble with walks, he is also in the bottom 2% for hard hit balls. I have a hard time trusting him to sustain his moderate success the way he is going. His WHIP is now 1.592, and his xERA is 5.27. I could definitely see him finish the season with a high-4 ERA.

I’m starting to like Arroyo, they don’t all have to be all-stars, if he can play 2B consistently and give us an ops of .750+ with above average defense I’ll take that all day.
Plus listening to his post game interview he just sounds like a real cool dude. The type of guy you want to root for.

I'm curious how he'd look in a super utility role in 2022 and beyond. All things considered, I'd much rather see Arroyo in that role than Kiké Hernandez, as I can clearly see his ability to put the bat on the ball. Arroyo's ability on the left side of the diamond and in the corner outfield would have to be determined, however.

Anyone hear any rumblings about Remy? Apparently he just ghosted mid-game, which is strange. I hope he's ok.

Please trade Kiké Hernadez for a bag of balls, if possible.
That is all.

What the hell is this running into outs?

If you show the bunt, bunt. Otherwise you’re taking without giving yourself a chance. Between that and running into an out (and potentially costing the Sox a run) Devers’ head is up his butt today.

Hopefully Garrett Richards and the Sox could win one for my wedding today. If you're not posting comments here through the ceremony you're not a real fan. The misses caught me trying to peak at the phone, but looks like it was a swell night all around!

Psst....red sox hitters. It is OK to actually get hits. Wow - 1 hit to a pitcher with an ERA over 4. I guess they want to wait and do another rally. Dangerous to get too accustomed to doing that, though.

So, now that doctoring baseballs are now punishable, is this the real Red Sox rotation?

Sighhhh, bad showing from the Sox. Marwin's AB's are painful to watch.

Marwin's versatility is great but don't you have to hit a little too?

Something I mentioned in the Astros thread about Dalbec: ...And in the last 3 games he's gone 4-10 with a double, triple, and home run. Exactly like clockwork, it's crazy - he goes ice cold for two weeks and then it just turns back on again for two weeks.
The strongest correlation in the major leagues this season is probably Dalbec's offensive performance and the cycles of the moon.

How bad has Marwin been?
Franchy Cordero for the season: .179/.228/.274 (102 PAs) Marwin Gonzalez since 4/27: .179/.227/.286 (119 PAs)
