I’m so bummed out about Brock Bell but Murphy still doing his thang. This is a pretty good pitching lineup. Houck keep getting stronger and ready to help.

Two day games means I'm not getting much done in the office today. Love to see it.

So far in Greensboro today, Murphy with another nice outing: 5.2IP 3H 1ER 0BB 6K (1HR)
Dearden racking up the XBHs with a 2B (11 on the year) and a HR (6 on the year).

Murphy ends up 5.2IP, 3H, 3R(1ER), 0BB, 6K (81 pitches, 58 strikes). Spacke allowed both inherited runners to score - they were unearned though due to a Howlett error.
Something to watch with Murphy, he's now allowed 9 HRs against. That is tied for third most in Hi-A East.

Cundall will be in the house tonight in Portland. Medina is a top prospect for the MFYs. Hopefully Portland can show something against him!

There's a legit debate to be had about who is the #1 prospect in the system....and that's before we draft a stud in a few weeks.

Yeah and it's not like an overreaction or anything: His contact% are up and the strikeouts are down. He's also been using the whole field when putting the ball in play and his BABIP is up. I'd like to see what he can do at the MLB level.

A walk, an infield hit, a home run... that's a nice mix for a leadoff hitter!

I'll predict Duran Duran is brought up on July 1st or 2nd - just in time for the west coast trip

Sox have a bit of a homestand then a trip out west. Either could be a logical time to call him up. At this point if you offered even odds on him getting the call pre-All Star Break I'd snatch that up in a heartbeat.
Oops, same thought as above, just narrowly beaten to the comment.

I'll predict Duran Duran is brought up on July 1st or 2nd - just in time for the west coast trip Agreed here, Benintendi, Bogaerts, Devers, Moncada all debuted on west coast trips. Then again, Mookie, JBJ, Swihart and Henry Owens all debuted against the Yankees. Either way seems like within the next two weeks we should see Duran.

Nick Sogard hit his 5th HR of the year to tie the game. Hitting .265/.343/.453/.796 with 5 2B, 1 3B, and 5 HRs. He’s had a rough June compared to his hot start to the year, but overall he’s had a pretty solid year. 14.7% strikeout rate, 10.9% walk rate and hasn’t made an error all season while playing 2B, 3B, and SS. His profile says no power projection, but if he developed some power over the last year or so, then he could have an MLB utility infielder future. He turns 24 at the end of the season so he’s not young for High-A but he’s also not super old.

Winckowski's day is done....largely positive: 5IP 7H 3ER 0BB 9K, however he did give up 3 2Bs and a HR though among the 7 hits. Still, nice to see the 9K-0BB ratio and he outpitched Top 100 type Luis Medina today.

The problem with trying to be a voice of reason and pumping the breaks with promoting prospects is you get stuck in this mantra of "it's too early" "its' too early" until one day it's not. It's not like a flipped switch, it's an amorphous process. Duran just keeps hitting, if he can hit at the next level then he needs to be in LF soon. The age of Duran will be upon us soon.

Love Duran and have been saying he's my #1 since last year but, before we jump off the bridge here, the man child that is Wander Franco is 4 years younger than Jarren. He's only the 4th prospect with back to back #1 BA rankings, following Andrew Jones, Joe Mauer and Brice Harper. There is a difference.

It's not like a flipped switch, it's an amorphous process. Duran just keeps hitting, if he can hit at the next level then he needs to be in LF soon. The age of Duran will be upon us soon. The first half of your post is 100% spot on. It's a trap I've fallen into a number of times over the years. (Along with the trap of hating a prospect because of having to point out his flaws repeatedly - by the time lavarnwayguy was done with me, I was practically rooting for Ryan Lavarnway to fail, although certainly not literally.) I actually do agree that Duran is probably ready for a call-up at this point, joking aside. But the problem is, again, that there needs to be a proper opening for him in the major league lineup. There is 100% clearly a spot for him on the MLB roster. Getting him on there is very easy. But unless you want to make an Arroyo-Hernandez platoon at second, with Hernandez getting like a start or two a week in the OF, getting him everyday at-bats is tough, because Santana is only playing in like half the team's games. It feels like more because he's started 3 of the last 4, yesterday's coming because Arroyo was hurt. But he's started 10 of the team's 18 games this month. You're not calling up Duran to start in 5 or 6 of every 10 games, so you need to take the bat out of someone else's hands as well. Maybe we're at the point where they're ok cutting into Hernandez's and Arroyo's playing time to do that. I wouldn't hate that, honestly, but again, I'm just pointing out that it's not as easy as "Santana sucks replace him with Duran."

I dunno, looks pretty easy to me to get him lots of ABs. Vs RHP, Duran starts every day and Renfroe, Kiké and Arroyo start each 2/3rd the time. Vs LHP you play all the righties.
