Just realized it's unlikely Bello pitches today given that he pitched on Sunday in the Futures Game. Almost certainly going to be a shuffling of the Portland rotation to accommodate. I'd guess Politi today on regular rest. Not sure how they'll play tomorrow. Yup. Politi, EDJ, Crawford, German, Bello (then presumably Winck). EDJ slots in to keep Crawford and German, who pitched the 7/10 split doubleheader, on regular rest.

It's Day 6 for Groome. Brandon Walter pitched before him last time. Perhaps they'd push out Groome another day or skip him this time through? If so, Walter could be tonight's starter for Greenville. Brandon Walter tonight. Checking on rotation for the week.

And wishes he wasn't. First four batters: two walks, a homer and a single
Casas with a homer!

Castellanos just hit a 3 run home run. He's been a nice bat at the top of the Portland lineup.

Castellanos just showed some massive strength. Reached down for a curveball well below his knees and just muscled it over the left field wall for a 3 run home run. He did good to get the bat on the ball but he was definitely reaching for one which just shows the ridiculous power it took to hit that out.

Meneses just took the same pitcher even further out to left field. He launched that home run.

So when do we start talking about Castellanos like he’s a top guy?

So when do we start talking about Castellanos like he’s a top guy? His big knock to me is his poor defense in the outfield. He really only defensively plays at first base in my eyes, and that changes everything when it comes to expectations at the plate.

He hasn’t been out there long though I’d imagine, right? Maybe room to become a 40 out there

AJ Politi with back to back solid starts. Has gone 5 innings, 2 ER in each of his last 2 starts with 10 Ks to 2 BBs in that stretch.

Christian Koss 2/4 with a HR. He's on an 1133 OPS heater in July to get his batting line up to about league average for the season

A couple nice defensive plays at 1B tonight for Franchy. Unfortunately, he was 0-4 with 3K's at the plate.
Still a work in progress.

Does Scott have any potential behind the dish? Could he be a late developing catching option? Hadn't seen any discussion of him back there. The bat seems decent and BB/K number are ok.

He's only started 10 games back there, although 4 have been this month post-Groshans promotion (ok technically 1 was while Groshans was still on the roster but it was after Groshans' last game behind the plate in Salem). Based on the fact they've played Erro a lot more back there and he started working there later than Scott, it'd seem Erro took to it quicker. He's another older guy I'd like to see pushed a bit more, but if they're serious about trying to get him to stick behind the plate, I get why he's in Salem. Certainly not many reps available in Greenville with both Cottam and Groshans there now.
