ed Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters that Tanner Houck is likely to start Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Houck will be a bullpen option for the series against the Yankees, and then will likely take the hill against Toronto for that series. The right-hander has a 12/1 K/BB ratio in 10 1/3 innings with the Red Sox with a 4.35 ERA, but missed time with a flexor muscle injury when he was sent down to Triple-A Worcester. Houck offers some streaming potential, but the Blue Jays lineup would be a risky time to use him in fantasy formats.

So the boys get the extra day rest, just like the rest of the league. I can live with that.

Thanks Philly
Idk if it’s their fault but it feels right to blame them

No official announcement has come from either team about a make-up date, and it isn’t yet known if any other games in the scheduled four-game series could be in jeopardy. yikes Man every time i post this message there is a new tweet...

There's Matt Barnes' extra day of rest. Now Kiké doesn't have to complain about the schedule.
First the Phils and now the Yankees. Hope the Sox can avoid all this.

To be updated once the Yankees set their rotation... Cole in his career has been better on 4 days rest than 5, but he's been much better this year on 5 and they've only had him start on 4 days rest 4 times. So he has to be the starter in game 2.
Game 1 starter would be either Montgomery on 6 days rest, or Nelson Cortes, the soft-tossing lefty who shut us down mopping up the first game of the first series in NY, on 5. Taillon likely starts game 3 on 5 days rest, where he's thrived over his career, although they might give him another day.
My guess is Montgomery, Cole, Taillon, Cortes.
German, who's starting game 1, has pitched twice out of the pen since he allowed a .990 OPS (.870 Statcast expected) and 9.98 ERA over his last 4 starts. He has good overall numbers in those 5 IP:
.236 / .404 / .236 = .274 expected .250 / .450 / .250 = .297 actual
You can see that the Iso is bad, and it was all with runners on, 3/6, 2B, HR, which is how he managed a true ERA of 5.00 or so. That hasn't been a problem in his career, though.
So this is a doubly big game for them. They need to get him back into the rotation pitching well; Nick Nelson is currently their 5th guy.
And they're giving everyone else an extra day. Cole has pitched less well on 6 days both this year and in his career.

Does this mean the Yankees don't have enough to field a team? Just have them play shorthanded (it's their problem) or have them call-up some players from Somerset (NJ). Are you telling me they can't make it to the Bronx in time?
Great, now we get 2 seven inning games this weekend? Are we going to be able to even play this weekend? This is BS. Get F-ing vaccinated!!! Idiots.

This is what you get when you spend more than 25 minutes analyzing tonight's starting pitcher!
I don't think they want to give everyone else yet another day.

Incidentally, I just saw a clip of Scott Gottlieb projecting this new covid wave; he was saying the models expected it to peak around late September. That could certainly end up making a giant mess of the post-season.
For context, here's what's happening with covid cases in the UK, which has a higher vaccination rate than the US and where the Delta variant has had longer to take root.
Sigh.

Idiots. I can buy waiting a day to get the test results back. But, yes, tomorrow they should absolutely be putting 3 to 6 guys on the COVID list and calling up replacements. And you might want to play a doubleheader with them given that.
In jurisprudence the technical term for this is "tough shit."

I'm going to write my congressfolks and suggest a new law: all the fucktards who didn't get vaccinated must partially refund their stimulus money. Half goes to infrastructure and half to subsidize free food delivery for those of us who did.

Idiots. The yankees were one of the first teams to pass MLBs 85 percent threshold for the vaccine and Cashman says that of the 6 players most were previously vaccinated. Now what "most" means who knows I'm guessing 4 of the 6 otherwise he'd probably have said all but 1 but I don't think this is necessarily a scenario to point and say idiots go get vaccinated.

ERod might be pitching for his trade value here. I doubt they trade ERod unless they fall out of the WC race.

So if Gerrit Cole or Aaron Judge are among the unlucky COVID-19 stricken, does that mean many of the MLB all stars might also be unavailable for this weekend's games?
Baseball player mentality - Let me take my steroid shots but I won't get a vaccine that is considered safe because I don't know what is in it.
