The worst part might be listening to this ESPN crew verbally fellate the Yankees all night. listening to Joe Castig has made a terrible game at least tolerable.

The black holes on this team - at the bottom of the pen, and the K masters (Dalbec and Chavis), are being exposed. There are holes in the dam that need to be filled. We are in first place. Stop crying. Nobody thought we would be here. These guys are some of our best prospects and we need to let them try and figure it out. I can’t stand fans like you honestly. You sound like a spoiled brat. We’re going to lose some games. We need to let our young guys battle it out. Where working Arroyo at first and putting Duran in to see if we can possibly use that. What would you do!!! Trade prospects for a first baseman? PASS!

Pipe down, relax, and understand what these game threads are for. What are you - 10 years old? How long have you been a Red Sox fan? I've supported this team for more than 50 years - the great, and the awful.

Offensively, Renfoe has been trending in the wrong direction for quite a while now.

Still optimistic about this team. Remember we're getting Sale back, have some resources to make a trade or two, and a growing farm system. Speed bump let's just see how they respond tomorrow against Toronto. Goodnight all.

Losing 2/3 isn’t the end of the world. But the offense needs to wake up. Hopefully Duran gives us the spark we desperately need.

The worst part might be listening to this ESPN crew verbally fellate the Yankees all night. Well listen, it's hard not to root for a scrappy underdog like the Yankees when they've gritted and hustled their way to a 48-44 mark.

Starting tonight the next two weeks are a slap in the face if there are any feel-good holdover attitudes, from the first half. No days off and probably not feeling too healthy or well-rested. So I'd be happy with six W's for the remainder of July with the hope of getting back on track in August when I hope RS will still be at top of the AL/E.

Step 1: tread water for two weeks Step 2: get Sale back Step 3: play an easier schedule in August
That works for me.

To blow off steam and say stuff (some smart mostly silly) I legit challenged someone to fight one time. This board can get really passionate about the Red Sox .That’s what you will find especially playing the MFY !

Look on the bright side: this keeps the Yankees in trade deadline limbo. Surely they can’t sell now! Maybe they can trade prospects for rentals!

NY's biggest trade piece is Judge who's a rental. He's immensely popular in NY and their fanbase would be upset to the max.

I apologize, i’ve had a few names on here and posted hundreds of times which has nothing to do with how big of a fan that I am or how much I know. I really just like to read but I’ve been reading way to much complaining of late so I lost it. My fault! At the end of the day every team has holes. Look at SF. That lineup is a joke and they are killing it.Our number 9 hitter in his first full season and backup UTL player who’s only had 60 AB all season are not going to break us. We got our butts handed to us by a team who now thinks they have a chance and will trade some prospects for rentals and not even make the playoffs. It’s going to be ok.

They need rotation help. Perez and Richards should not get another start.

This team could easily go from first to third in the division this month. No significant injuries all season long, their clutch hitting has been insane as has the bullpen. If they win the division cora should win coach of the yr and bloom exc of the yr.

Because of how much this team has exceeded expectations I feel there's always going to be the ball in the guy feeling every time they hit a little skid.
No one wins every series, if you did you'd win around 115 games+. The important thing is they get back on track, at least they weren't swept. But, it's a reminder that there's a lot of baseball left and a lot of AL East action. There are some good teams in the division, even the Yankees could get hot and make things interesting.

The Red Sox keep on swinging at the high fastball out of the zone. Duran swung at ball 4 twice. In his defense the ump called a high strike on him that the announcers commented on but yeah he didn't look good on the high heat.

The Red Sox keep on swinging at the high fastball out of the zone. Duran swung at ball 4 twice. In his defense the ump called a high strike on him that the announcers commented on but yeah he didn't look good on the high heat. It's not just Duran, although I would say that the umpiring was bad, particularly in the 2nd game of the series. I'm just really frustrated that they played that poorly against a decimated Yankees team that was there to be finished off. The Yankees started an outfield that wouldn't have been good enough to make the Worcester squad. The Red Sox could have circled them like vultures. Instead they breathed some life into them. So maybe the Yankees make a terrible trade to get Marte although I suspect they'll acquire him (who else would Jeter do business with?) and extend him. I was annoyed because the Yankees used the weather situation to screw the Sox and the umps were terrible in Saturday's loss. The Yankee fan hits Verdugo and somehow didn't get arrested. I figured maybe that would fire up the Red Sox to shove it up the Yanks' butts on Sunday, but they played so badly all the way around and I had to hear "Boston sucks" chants. I so hope the Red Sox get their act together and play well enough to fire up the "Yankees suck" chant. Yesterday's game highlighted that Perez is not somebody you can really rely on. He couldn't get out a minor league lineup. Now the race is really tightening up. Tampa, once 4.5 games out, could take over 1st as soon as today while Toronto is heating up and can beat the Sox if their bullpen doesn't blow the close games. Watching Richards and Perez pitch poorly and even Pivetta struggle, even with Sale returning the Sox might need to obtain starting pitching which I was hoping they wouldn't have to do. Yes, they can plug in Houck, but I really liked the idea of Houck giving them another Whitlock like option out of the pen. I'd hate to see what they'd have to give up to upgrade the starting pitching in a trade. The Red Sox offense most of the year had functioned with the 2 - 6 hitters doing a lot of damage, but with Verdugo and Renfroe slumping, the lineup has kind of struggled to score runs in the past week or so. The Sox have now lost 3 straight series, oddly taking the first game of each and dropping the last two of each. They need to get their act together soon.

I feel like this team needs to sink or swim with what they have. Either Sale/Houck is enough and Pivetta/Eovaldi/Erod pitching to potential, or they aren't there and we fall short. I don't feel like this is the time to CHASE success. Perez/Richards are just as likely to be a solid #4 starter type as whomever they might go get, and I don't think it's right to spend on a #2 type with all the other question marks. Now, bullpen and 1b are worth upgrades at the end of the month if Duran and Houck don't reset the order on those. They really need to mentally turn the corner after the past few series. I think they are loose and fun and successful enough to do so, but I don't want to see a 2021 Celtics situation of "look we've turned the corner" yo-yo 10 times.

Let's face it - the post-season is a crapshoot. The best stacked teams don't always win. There are always injuries (and now COVID disqualifications), slumps at the wrong time, etc. that often prevent favorites from getting the ring. There have been plenty of flawed teams that have won titles. To me, if the Sox take the division or a WC, they are way ahead of schedule. If they qualify for the tournament (and Sale is 90% or better) they have a chance. But the long term plan still needs to be respected. Perez was brought back to be our 5th starter. He's being that. He doesn't start in the post-season unless there is an emergency. We still need to see whether Richards can be counted on. If Sale makes it back, Pivetta for now shapes up as #4. I'm OK going with that as well, unless someone wants to just give us a #2 starter for a handful of beans. I believe Duran will be good for us once he settles in. I'm not paying a lot for 1B, though I'm looking high and low for a Dalbec replacement. Not hitting, prone to misplays in the field. I do like the idea of flipping the script and getting 2 arm upgrades in the BP. I really like the idea of one of those being a 1A closer that fits between Otto and Barnes if that is possible (Kimbrel would cost too much). Lengthen that quality bullpen bridge between 6th and 9th innings. That could be pretty effective. Guys like Whitlock and maybe Houck could be brought in much earlier in games if need be. We think of this team as a first place team, but we need to successfully get through this tough stretch of games in order to validate that thinking. We'll have a pretty good idea the closer we get to the 7/30 deadline. Regardless, let's enjoy this division race. We didn't think we'd be here in March/April.
