Hernandez going for DSL Red. Looks like Perales was skipped.

Jedixson went 3.0 innings, 1 hit, 1 walk, 7 Ks in his first appearance. Let’s see if he can throw another good game.

DSL Legend Ronald Rosario was removed from yesterday's blowout, DH'ed today and has now been removed after a walk.

Greenville rotation for the week (EDIT: For now at least - these things are always subject to change): Walter/BVB/Murphy/Shugart/YPA/Gambrell.
Groome presumably just getting another week of paternity leave.

My guess is they're just going to be cautious with him. Not sure they'll shut him down or anything - he did throw at the alt site last year, so it's not like he was sitting around not throwing. He's probably in a better position to have a bump up in innings than most guys because of that.
I also just qualified the post with that being the rotation for now - these things can always change.

I saw where FCL Sox were today listed at 6-5 after an 0-5 start. I thought the reported record was 7-5...

Who said gas prices are going up? Sale is giving free gas in Portland tonight.

I’m curious and I couldn’t answer this going back more than a couple years. Has Portland (or the system in general) had a game with this much draw to it before? I’m trying to think of a major star rehabbing or maybe the first game at a level for a top prospect but I can’t think of anything that tops these circumstances. Chris Sale making his first rehab start (that people can/will really attend in large numbers) coming back from TJ to give the 1st place Red Sox a late season surge? That’s hard to top. Am I missing anything?

Portland rehab assignments:
2019: May - Pedroia 2x (this was the one where Pedroia played in one game and removed himself), Holt, Johnson 2018: August - Vazquez, ERod; June - Thornburg; May - Maddox, Thornburg; April - Poyner, Pomeranz 2017: August - Barnes, Carson Smith; July - Elias, Holt; June - ERod; May - Holt; April - Rutledge 2016: August - Hanigan, Workman; April - Smith 2015: August - Betts; July - Swihart; June - Victorino, Hanigan, Masterson; May - Victorino 2014: August - Kelly Johnson; July - Lavarnway; June - Doubront; May - Wright 2013: August - David Ross, Franklin Morales; July - Stephen Drew; May - Ross, Morales; April - Breslow 2012: Highlights included Ellsbury, Crawford, Dice-K 2011: Literally just one: Bobby Jenks 2010: Jeremy Hermida, Mike Cameron, Manny Delcarmen 2009: Dice-K, Lowrie, Smoltz 2008: I think none 2007: Again I think none
Big takeaways: They definitely used Pawtucket more than Portland from 2013 onward (seems like 2012 they used it more, and that's the year I stopped), and I had forgotten how often they used Lowell for rehab assignments. Also they had rehab assignments end without the guy getting activated more often than I remembered. The 2012 rehabs were probably the last ones of this magnitude but of course those weren't in a winning year like this. 2019 Pedroia ones were early enough that they were big but they were stop/start.

Am I missing anything? This reminds me of when I was in AR in the 90's when Fernando Valenzuela did a rehab in Little Rock. They not only sold out the stadium, they set up a rope around the warning track for people to stand so they could get more fans in. If the ball bounced into the fans on the warning track it was a ground rule double.

Hearing Loubier in the GCL tonight, which raises something of a "where's Luis De La Rosa" flag in my mind, but we'll see.
Looks like Politi will piggyback Sale - tomorrow's starter is Crawford and Winckowski started on Sunday, so this is Politi's spot.
Looks like Santos is in the Portland bullpen.

Hart in Worcester, but the rest of the rotation is TBA, which is kind of interesting.

Portland announcer throwing out some velos in Sale’s first inning: 95, 96, 97.

Am I missing anything? I went to see David Ortiz rehabbing in Portland in --- (I'm too old to remember), but do remember sitting in the rain for a very long time until, I think, the game was called--then Ortiz rehabbed in Pawtucket the next day! Also, who was the Sox player that was to rehab in Portland on a summer Sunday afternoon and thought it would take two hours to drive from Boston--he turned around at the Hampton toll booth at about 1:00 pm.

Cordero in the OF again tonight - hasn't played 1B since last Tuesday (granted there are rainouts in there). Looks like that experiment might be over.

It’s Chris Sale vs AA hitters but he’s looked dominant so far. Set down 7 in a row. 5 Ks through 3. Has been able to command all three pitches, get swings on the slider out of the zone, and his fastball has been consistently in the mid-90s.
