Brainer Bonaci is currently hitting .256/.452/.435. The OBP > SLG lines are always funny, but it's been a while since I've seen one where both are > .400.

Not the best days from LDLR and Loubier LDLR's 6 ER on 11 pitches has got to be some sort of record. They don't accurately track pitches for the DSL and FCL in the box scores. They just do 4 pitches for a walk, 3 for a strikeout, and 1 otherwise. I don't think they would have taken him out if he had only thrown 11 pitches.

I think I know why LDLR hasn't been starting. He started a game at the start of their season that was suspended because of rain and hasn't pitched since so this is his first official appearance. My guess is he was dealing with a minor injury in between. I'm probably not telling you anything you don't know, but for everyone's benefit: With a five-man rotation, the starters in the FCL are, in theory, pitching on a given day of the week (not quite true for the Th-F-Sa guys so that F and SA starters aren't facing the Twins every single start), so he's the Tuesday starter (or piggybacking with Loubier and they both pitch on Tuesday is likely the more accurate way to put it). Two Tuesdays ago was the game preemptively postponed because of Elsa, and they didn't play last Tuesday either. With a Wednesday off-day, they easily could've just been having him throw on that Wednesday camp day (or inside/in the morning on Tuesday) rather than have him get off schedule. And honestly, they should probably just be running four-man rotation and piggyback guys. Not the best days from LDLR and Loubier LDLR's 6 ER on 11 pitches has got to be some sort of record. Reminder that the FCL boxes don't actually track pitches, but rather assigns the minimum of pitches for each outcome. So his 11 pitches is 1 for each of the hits, 4 for the walk, 1 for each of the two pop outs, and 1 for the HBP. Honestly, his inning doesn't look quite as horrid when you go to the PBP. P4, P4, 2B to LF, HBP, bunt 1B, BB (run), LD 1B to LF, FB 1B to CF, pulled. He probably hit 30 pitches so they got him out. It's not a good outing but it's better than if he like walked 4 guys in a row. Loubier's outing is similar: F7, Kl, BB, GR 2B to RF, (balk), HR, BB, pulled. Again, probably hit a pitch limit. Certainly not good at all, but not "holy cow what the hell is going on there" bad. Heck, he only allowed 4 baserunners.

Brainer Bonaci is currently hitting .256/.452/.435. 13 walks and 12 Ks. 21.8% K rate is probably more than you want from Bonaci but the 23.6% walk rate is ridiculous. FCL pitching is FCL pitching but that’s still impressive.

I saw where FCL Sox were today listed at 6-5 after an 0-5 start. I thought the reported record was 7-5... Off topic but are you planning to see some FCL games when Mayer starts playing there? I plan to catch some FCL games before leaving for Maine 8/7...so Sox please sign him soon! I hope to take in a few 'Dogs' games while up yonder.

The signing deadline is 8/1, so they'll have to.

Portland rehab assignments: 2019: May - Pedroia 2x (this was the one where Pedroia played in one game and removed himself), Holt, Johnson 2018: August - Vazquez, ERod; June - Thornburg; May - Maddox, Thornburg; April - Poyner, Pomeranz 2017: August - Barnes, Carson Smith; July - Elias, Holt; June - ERod; May - Holt; April - Rutledge 2016: August - Hanigan, Workman; April - Smith 2015: August - Betts; July - Swihart; June - Victorino, Hanigan, Masterson; May - Victorino 2014: August - Kelly Johnson; July - Lavarnway; June - Doubront; May - Wright 2013: August - David Ross, Franklin Morales; July - Stephen Drew; May - Ross, Morales; April - Breslow 2012: Highlights included Ellsbury, Crawford, Dice-K 2011: Literally just one: Bobby Jenks 2010: Jeremy Hermida, Mike Cameron, Manny Delcarmen 2009: Dice-K, Lowrie, Smoltz 2008: I think none 2007: Again I think none Big takeaways: They definitely used Pawtucket more than Portland from 2013 onward (seems like 2012 they used it more, and that's the year I stopped), and I had forgotten how often they used Lowell for rehab assignments. Also they had rehab assignments end without the guy getting activated more often than I remembered. The 2012 rehabs were probably the last ones of this magnitude but of course those weren't in a winning year like this. 2019 Pedroia ones were early enough that they were big but they were stop/start. So clearly I missed one. Lol.
