I hope to live long enough to see a replay of a minor league homer, which I am assured is crushed, that I can actually see where the ball lands.

Blaze Jordan is 2 years younger than the average FCL player, is hitting .322/.359/.610 and is striking out 80% as often as the average player. Wow, I had forgotten how young he was, just saw the Mayer is a week older than Blaze.

Maybe not a starter but he looks like a potential back-end of the bullpen piece for sure. Still waiting for Drohan to show something.

Does Blaze get a cup of coffee in Salem this year? Wouldn't surprise me if his time in the Fort is coming to a close. Nobody is blocking him and they're going to need to make room in the FCL for draftees.

Looks like Luis Perales was skipped again in the rotation. Still no Bleis (or Alvaro Meijas). It appears that Yordanny Monegro, the Blue team opening day starter, also has been skipped, and Rosario hasn't played since 7/20. I have a funny feeling these guys return on 7/31...

Separately from the "is he injured/what happened?" discussion, it's been very nice to see Blaze Jordan swing a hot bat of late. Can be hard to know how many of these doubles at the FCL level are indicative of legit power, but given his profile it seems legit. If he’s hitting and not striking out, he’s going to be a real prospect. Not concerned about the power at all. Very much not doubting the power in that comment - essentially the opposite. Though low minors fielding can goose 2b numbers for some prospects, that is not the case for someone like Blaze.

I'm hoping he pops enough that we justify at least one "You don't mess with the Drohan" GameDay thread title.

It’s not like he’s legging out doubles on misplayed singles.

This is the exact kind of start you want to see from Blaze. I figured if he could hit a bit and keep the strikeouts down, this season would be a success for the youngster. The fact that the power is coming so soon is very exciting.

Day after the trade deadline. So they’re being held out of game action as a way to keep eyes off of them before the trade deadline? That seems odd. Why keep guys out of games for weeks when you can just say no if someone asks for them? Especially with the lost year, wouldn’t you want to get them the most playing time possible? I know these guys are doing field work and back fields stuff as long as they’re healthy, but still.

Don't want flaws exposed, don't want people getting hurt. If you can keep players a blank slate then they're worth more. It's different when you're in the high minors where you can raise your stock by playing well - there's nothing really to be gained in terms of trade value by playing well in the DSL.

I was thinking more that they're hiding them. Presumably there are scouts down there right now checking their guys out. On a list of "here's their best DSL guys I saw" it might be better if some of the guys you want to keep are on the sidelines and other guys catch their attention. Doesn't mean you're wrong though. It's another interesting way of looking at it, but I don't think a team is going to trade for a guy it hasn't seen. Maybe the better way of thinking of it is showcasing the guys you are willing to trade while scouts are in town.

I could see that with a second-tier type of guy who is climbing onto the radar and you don't want some team coming in demanding him. But with someone like Bleis who is more of known commodity? A month of games probably has the potential to hurt his value more than it has the potential to help.

LDLR gave the FCL 3 scoreless
Loubier also with a scoreless inning
Nice bounce backs for them
