They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Tough matchups, I would not be unhappy with a split.

Everyone is enjoying the 2021 Yankees schadenfreude, but the Blue Jays are also blowing what should have been an excellent year for them.

Everyone is enjoying the 2021 Yankees schadenfreude, but the Blue Jays are also blowing what should have been an excellent year for them. I wonder if playing their "home" games in various mid-size cities around the eastern United States has taken a toll. The good news for them is that they have some scary young talent already in the majors, plus an excellent farm system. I suspect predictions of their excellence will end up falling into the "not wrong, just early" category.

They played in relative band-boxes for 1/2 the season in Buffalo and Florida, that park in Florida man, guys were teeing off into that wind. If anything I think their nomadic home schedule helped their offense tremendously.

I'm sure it has and I wonder if the two cancel out to a degree. They probably will score less runs but they are likely to give up less runs too.

What I'm going to assume is that Devers will move closer to Vlad Jr. in the MVP race.

Looking for Xander to find his power stroke again. Couple dingers coming in this series against all the lefties.

According to the NESN commentator's Xander's wrist may be bothering him. Can it heal without taking some time off? Thanks.

Ideally he'd be at 2b with Kiké moving over to SS so X could have some days off, but I don't think the timeline will work.

Xander is 5-27 with two doubles and two walks since he appeared to hurt his wrist

I'm hoping we can add a 1B at the deadline. An upgrade to that spot in the batting order will make it less painful to rest X and VerduGod. They both need time off.

I agree, and haven’t seen much discussion on the board that the black hole at first is now having secondary effects like making it impossible to give key guys a bit of time to heal their injuries. Maybe there has been and I missed it. What I do know is as much as I like Dalbec, he isn’t a major league hitter right now and I have this feeling Bloom will try for some kind of upgrade. Verdugo and Bogie are looking hurt to me. We are relying way too much on certain bats. We need a more well rounded lineup.

He does seem to be making slight baby steps progress.

Zander could use some days off to help heal, I wonder if Bloom is looking for a Defensive SS to add to the roster for the stretch run. I mean, if Zander were to go down for any length of time who would play SS? Kiki, Marwin, Santana, Arroyo, Arauz? Call up Downs, Fitzgerald? Is the team comfortable with anyone of these as the starting SS in a playoff game? I think just fine for a day off here & there or even a couple day stretch but for an extended time?

Idk Cordero with 2 good AB’s in his first game and a big 2 strike hit to continue the rally last night looks ok to me *eyeball emojis*

I hope Cora won't be sitting Duran for games 2-4. Someone send him the guy's splits vs. LHP.

However, people noted that about the MFY in 2017 and they have not reached that since. Also, the division is always tough. Will be interesting to see.
