OK, this is the kind of game they should be using Workman in.
Which position player is going to pitch here? My money is on Dalbec or Plawecki.

I think Wakefield can do better than this.

Why have 1 first baseman who can't hit when you can have 2? Don't stop there. I'm pretty sure we have 5 (Dalbec, Chavis, Gonzalez, Franchy, Santana). Surely a modern-era record of some kind. But these were the “marginal” additions to the roster that were supposed to help

The first base umpire checks Workman’s glove and hat after the top of the 6th. Lol.

I see E-Rod had a stellar night. Completely forgot about the actual game. Glad I did. What a disaster this year has been for him. At this point I'm not sure he's my 4th starter in the playoffs. This affirms this team needs to after Berrios, or no one. Team is fine like this.
On the flip side, kind of happy to see the Jays win only to pressure NY further.

Jays gotta be kicking themselves being 10 games behind with that offense.

Man, giving up 13 runs, having only 2 hits. Worst beatdown of the year? And odd to so closely follow perhaps the best game of the year. At least the Rays beat the MFY 14-0.

Lol Plawecki went to get checked by the ump and he was like 'nah, you're good'.

Lol Plawecki went to get checked by the ump and he was like 'nah, you're good'. Maybe Plawecki should be their big pitching acquisition.

Damn, that's ugly. We entertained my boy and his wife this evening. I snuck in a peek a few times. First time, 4-0, second time 13-0. Looks as if the Jays have been busy inflating their run differential.

Well, seems we won't have Workman to kick around any longer. Hello Kyle Schwarber, goodbye Brandon!

Too bad the Red Sox didn’t get Schwarber until now. Could have been the difference of 15 runs.

Just how long is Schwarber expected to be out for? This acquisition could turn out to be nothing.

Yeah I mean they clearly traded a top 10 prospect in the system for a guy who isn’t going to play an inning for them, there’s a high probability it’s a nothing acquisition

I love ERod, and the eye test certainly says he’s better than his numbers, but… there comes a point when you have the same disparity between FIP and box score so many times that that defense starts to ring hollow. A few games, fine. But a season? Then I am more skeptical of the theoretical stats that real-world outcomes. Real question for the analytic guys. What about a guy whose career fip is a whole run better or worse than career era? What do you say about a guy whose career fip is 4 but his era is 3 and he is a perennially good pitcher? If a guy's ERA consistently outperforms his FIP by a full run over several seasons (but does such a guy exist?) then I would think there might be something to it. But that's not Rodriguez, whose career numbers are: 4.18 ERA, 3.89 FIP, 4.08 xFIP. And the ERA was right between the career FIP and xFIP prior to this season.
But also I don't think any of these numbers are perfect. It's just when the ERA is out of line with all the other numbers that it's a tell-tale sign of bad luck. This season (before today) he had a 3.34 xFIP, 3.51 FIP, 3.65 xERA, and a 5.23 ERA. One of these numbers is not like the others...
By the way, this cuts in the other direction for Eovaldi whose numbers are: 3.49 ERA, 3.32 xERA, 2.47 FIP, 3.58 xFIP. In his case it's the FIP that's the outlier, and I'm inclined to give it less weight for that reason. But FIP is also what fangraphs bases WAR on, which is how you end up with Eovaldi as 3rd in the majors in pitcher WAR, ahead of the likes of Gerrit Cole, Brandon Woodruff, and Walker Buehler. I don't think Eovaldi's been that good.

Chaim, this is your wake up call, this team needs to add. 7-3 in last 10, horrible.

Uhm, Both Robles and Davis seem like that have very pedestrian numbers, or am I reading this wrong?
