Some moves down in the FCL: Tyler McDonough added to the team, Jonathan Diaz to Salem, and Eduardo Lopez rehabbing with the team.

McDonough wastes no time. Doubles and scores in his first professional at bat.

It would be nice if the FCL had broadcast feed so we could see things like McDonough's double and not be limited to things like shaky potato-cam footage (big ups to all the potato cams out there) of Blaze Jordan hitting bombs.

I feel like McDonough has no business in the FCL. I miss Lowell.

McDonough wastes no time. Doubles and scores in his first professional at bat. Quick, trade him while his value is at it's peak. Just a little trade deadline humor, lol.

Brice apparently opening for Gonsalves. Espinal tomorrow.
Ryan Fitzgerald, Jhonny Pereda, and Zack Kelly promoted from Portland. There clearly are other shoes dropping because that leaves 9 position players in Portland who aren't Oscar Rangel.

Happy for Fitzgerald. He was brought up as a possible promotion on the pod due to his age. Castellanos was also listed but I’d like to point out he’s not 25 as was stated, he is 23. So he’s actually relatively age appropriate for his level and his performance is pretty impressive IMO because of it

Also nice to see Ryan Fitzgerald get to AAA. He just keeps producing. Perada must mean the Hermann injury is not a couple day thing. I wonder if they'll bump up Cottam. Portland would need a middle infielder, too - must be Koss who has been raking? Not what poitcher they'd bump to take Kelly's spot.

I am not an expert on what constitutes an acceptable number of bullpen arms, but given that Portland has 9 and that seems like enough while only having one bench bat, my prediction would be Kottam, Koss, Dearden.

Worcester currently has 32 people, including 4 catchers. I think we may see folks going down from Worcester to Greenville.
I wonder if 1 or more players had 8/1 opt-outs I wasn't aware of. Herrmann's was 7/15 - I wonder if he agreed to push it back 2 weeks or something. I just have a very hard time squaring the Pereda call-up.
of course the above assumes Wong is the one going back down to Worcester. Is there any chance he's staying up?
EDIT: this explains it
Joe McDonald @joeymachockey Red Sox are taking Gonsalves, Brice, Arauz and Wong on the road as part of the taxi squad.
