Think JD opt-in but hopefully that doesn't discourage them from re-signing Schwarber, would really like him to be our future DH who can also move around and play LF and 1B if necessary. Still only 28, works a good at-bat, clutch performer, able to play in a big market, and from what we've seen so far a good personality and is willing to work with younger players. I'd be willing to give him a four year deal especially since I believe next year is the last we see of Martinez - he's literally the perfect replacement for him in my eyes.

JDM would be a one year thing. Schwarber gets more time to experience 1b in spring training. Dalbec could be part of a trade or he could be needed for 3b. I would guess that Devers might not be playing if it weren't the playoffs? Who knows how long the pain he's feeling lingers? There could be scenarios where Dalbec is needed for 3b with Schwarber at 1b with JDM DHing. So it could make sense, but of course Bloom might have something different in mind.

If the Red Sox can sign Schwarber at a number they like I don't see JD being a problem. Even if they don't want to carry both on the roster for an entire year, they wouldn't have to eat much money to move JD at this point.

Yup, JD for a year then you can just figure out the rest if you sign Schwarber- either way it wouldn't be a bad problem to have if you have a surplus of good talent.
