If he is getting promoted, he's going out in a Blaze of Glory, his hands are held up high.

Wilkelman probably done for the day: 5IP, 1H, 1R(0ER), 3BB, 6K. The three walks are more than he's previously allowed all season, but he still has a sterling 5BB:35K rate in 25.1 innings. If you remove his one bad start from July 5, he's gone: 24IP, 13H, 5ER, 4BB, 33K.

Castro, for dsl red, has 5 triples in 13 games so far. One HR and 2 2b’s as well.

Weird that the FCL game was only 7 innings. Also interesting Luis De La Rosa pitched 2 innings in relief - maybe building him up after seemingly being out for a bit.

Could be, among other possibilities, (a) that they're going to start throwing him more often than weekly to make up for his layoff, or perhaps (b) tomorrow's game is in Sarasota where rain is in the forecast and they want him to get his work in today. Wouldn't surprise me if after the game ended he went and got the rest of his work in with a bullpen or sim game.

Fangraphs already popped him up to #10 but he's all the way down at #54 here.

Between Wilkelman, Encarnacion, Nathanael Cruz, plus a few guys in the DSL, there's a lot of very interesting arms in the low minors right now.

I think he'll rise, but just based on Chris' reaction to fangraph's placement, the reports they've gotten haven't been quite at #10. Also, there are a bunch of DSL (and draft / FCL) guys who will need to be added/moved as reports/additions have been coming in so it might not look as dramatic. Random guess: somewhere in the early/mid thirties?

Related question: is Wilkelman old enough to drink coffee?
