With the Red Sox starting all draftees in the FCL, rookie ball at bats are hard to come by. I'm ready to read way too much into who is getting how much playing time. Excited for this new era in box score scouting.

Ryan Fernandez promoted to Greenville, Tyler Esplin to the IL. Could be the last we see if Esplin if it’s a remotely significant injury. Rule 5 eligible and obviously won’t be added to the 40 man

Drohan didn’t make it out of the first inning in Salem. Combination of lack of control and bad luck. Could have gotten out of the inning with only two runs but the ump said Northcut’s foot came off the bag and it sure didn’t look like it to me. Had a chance at a couple more outs but Erro slipped trying to make a tag at home plate and then dropped a throw in on a play at the plate. Drohan was low 90s with the fastball, had a mid-80s changeup that he barely threw, and a pretty decent looking high 70s curve. Honestly the line will look a lot worse than it actually was.
Between innings Drohan left the dugout with a member of the training staff heading for the locker room area. Potential injury or just dehydration? It’s another miserably hot and humid day at the ballpark.

Doesn’t have much going for him. Esplin isn’t getting cut. He’s always been young for the level he’s played at (he’s only 22 and in High-A. 2nd youngest on the team). He walks at a high level, doesn’t strike out a ton, and the rest will come as he ages and develops.

I missed it. Did he get a hit or is the streak over?

Yorke's hitting streak probably over but the on base one continue (0-2 with a walk) ADD: Salem is getting no-hit through 6 innings (7 innings game)

Nick Yorke's hit streak is at risk with him going 0-2 in the first game of the double header, but his on-base streak continues. Salem will need a long inning in the 7th as Yorke will be up 7th and the team so far has gotten no-hit.
EDIT: Got beaten to it

Bello has 29 K in his last 17 IP (and like a .450 BABIP)

VERY ugly game for Salem in game 1 of the double header. Salem pitchers let up 24 base runners in only 6 innings (15 hits, 8 walks, and a HBP).
Bright spot of the game…Yorke walked to extend his on base streak I guess? Not much else went right. Salem got no-hit, albeit in a 7 inning game.

Could be a new tactic against Yorke. You can control him, you just have to no-hit the team. There's likely a slew of no-nos coming against Salem.

Most muted no-hitter celebration ever BTW. The Fred Nats were just kind of high-fiving. They were clearly happy but like, no jumping up and down.
