Could be Chris Murphy's turn in Portland, but the Sea Dogs game recap from yesterday said Reyes was going today.

Woo Sox released Matt Hall. Opens up a bit more pitching time for actual prospects.

Seabold is hardly throwing his changeup so far today. Mostly fastballs and breaking balls and he had been cruising until he just gave up a HR (90 mph FB). A lot of fastballs registering at 90-91.

Gonna need a little more velo than that Yea I'm hoping on seabold being a back of the rotation guy for next year but that velocity leaves little room for error.

I wouldn’t be too worried about Seabold’s velocity at this point, long term. He’s pitched about 25 innings so far coming off a fairly legitimate arm injury. He needs time to build the strength back up. Now, if he comes into next year and is still 90-91 I would be concerned.

Dylan Spacke got the start for Greenville, which is his first career start.

Joe Davis is now your (tied) system leader in home runs. All hail Big Joe.

Wu-Yelland’s night isn’t over yet but he’s looked really good through 4. Fastball is as good as it usually is. Stadium gun has him mostly 97-98, which is actually probably more like 95-96. The big thing for me is that his changeup is looking really really good. He’s throwing it in the low-to-mid 80s and it has some late break. He’s thrown a couple really good ones that fell out of the strike zone at the end to get a swinging strikeout.

Antoni Flores is down and down hard. Took a cleat to the ankle on a play at third base. Walking off under his own power but heavily limping.

Unless something crazy happens in the 9th inning, looks like Yorke's on base streak has ended.

Unless something crazy happens in the 9th inning, looks like Yorke's on base streak has ended. He got really unlucky today. Had three really hard hit balls tonight. One absolutely scorched right to the CF, a deep fly to RF that the outfielder made a nice leaping play on, and another hard liner to RF.

Another shutout for the Red Sox. The game was pretty close until Alan Marrero forgot how to find the baseball. Couldn’t find the ball at his feet in a 1-0 ball game which took away the double play possibility and then couldn’t find it again later in the inning which let runners from 2nd and 3rd both score on a passed ball. Really rough game from a usually pretty good defensive catcher.
Wu-Yelland was great today and had three pitches going for him which isn’t something I’d seen from him the previous two games I saw him in. The Salem bullpen is definitely nothing to write home about. I wouldn’t be surprised if none of them make it out of the low minors.
Rafaela had another good game with two hard hit balls. Maita had two hard hit liners, though only one fell for a hit.
Lugo hit the ball hard but all four were on the ground. Couldn’t elevate it. He had probably the best defensive game I’ve seen from him. Made several nice plays up the middle, a really nice sliding stop and throw towards the third base side, and just had a strong arm all night long. The tools are definitely there for him to stick at shortstop once he fixes his more mental errors.

There's nothing else keeping him in Salem.

Jeter going Downs has now stuck out more than 50% this August. 19 K/37 AB.

Jeter Downs seems like he needs some time away or something. Maybe an IL stint to just re-group, come back in sept. and try to end the season strong. It's been rough.

Maybe time at Ft. Meyers.
At this point, the highest probability outcome is never seeing a day in the majors. Not much to lose.

Curious, how many players in say the last 20 years have made AAA by 22 and not made the majors without being derailed by an injury? My guess would be a very small number and so I'd be inclined to disagree that his highest probability outcome is never seeing a day there, but that's really just an educated guess.
