My main takeaway from these mocks is the Sox are once again running a tight ship and none of the draft outlets can get any leads for the pick.

I mentioned this before but it's worth mentioning again that the Sox could go college bats with their first five picks and get very good prospects with all five picks. MLB pipeline ranks Ivan Melendez at 99 and Trey Lipscomb at 136. I could live with those guys being picked with our 3rd and 4th rounders.

My first 3 are 24) Connor Prielipp 41) Kumar Rocker 79) Reggie Crawford
Believe or not Rocker falls to us at 41 and Toboni can not resist.
I can’t wait till Mike Andrews does the mock up this year.

The upside is fun but I’m not sure that two pitchers coming off TJ and another who failed his medical a year ago is the best way to spread risk across the class. Also, Rocker went top 15 in today’s mlbpipeline mock, he might not even make it to 24 (same with Prielipp)

I would love Rocker but his injury concern (this doesn't concern me too much, I love the prospect) and his high bonus demands will turn off the Sox. His association with Boras is also a strike against him, I believe.

I’ve read the MLB.com and BA scouting reports on Toman, but can someone give me the elevator pitch? Seems like he’s not a lock to stick at 3B and has swing and miss to his game. This isn’t to say I don’t want him, more genuinely curious why he’s choice #1 for a lot of folks here.
I keep on talking myself more into Melton. Would be ecstatic with him at 41 if he was to fall, but I see reason to take him in the 1st too. Gilbert makes sense to me as a high floor guy too. I’ve talked myself out of Beck and Jones in the 1st. I’d rather go underslot for Rushing or Wagner than take those 2.

The 2022 MLB Draft will be old news even before it gets underway.

Gilbert is easily my top choice at 24, really hoping they end up grabbing him. Great bat to ball skills, more walks than strikeouts and had a big power jump this past year. He also has a great max exit velo, which gives me confidence there's more power coming in the future. Hits too many groundballs and any team he goes to will focus on getting him to lift the ball. And for the cherry on top, he will stick in centerfield.
I'm super high on him, but I see a .270 average, 20 home run guy with above average defense in center.

Does anyone else get Mookie Betts-type vibes from Jett Williams? Very similar skills all around. I wonder if he's a great bowler.
Also, Rocker should be considered in the top 20 picks. I could see teams like Detroit and Anaheim having interest.

Is Rocker Big League ready? I don't think he needs much time in the minors.

MLB.com just put out an article on July predictions and said that Rocker would get drafted by the Padres and make his debut shortly thereafter. Rocker was the most major league ready pitcher in last years draft and he's only gotten more major league ready in Indy ball. I think he could probably be an sold multi-inning relief pitcher by September.

I'm old enough to remember when Kumar Rocker's agent told us that Michael Conforto had a minor shoulder strain and was back to 100% and ready to sign a big contract. Then a few weeks later he had season ending surgery

In rd 3 pick 79) Reggie Crawford, UCONN, pitcher and 1st base, lefty 6’4”, 235lbs. Out for the year with Tommy John. He has Boston Red Sox written all over him.

This reads as a mild quid pro quo article, but I can't imagine it moves many needles. If he's gonna get anything close to what he wants, he's gonna need to put some level of medicals out there for teams. Why I think he's barely worth discussing by people who don't have access. If he looks ok, the Sox should take him (and he'll probably be off the board first). If he doesn't, maybe a third rounder?

FWIW was reading something on Rocker last couple days by scouts who has seen him recently. Said he was hitting 98 on the gun but with little movement. Thought he was looking back half of first round.
