I know we thought we peaked with last years draft mania when picking 4th, but imagine if both JD and ERod reject the Q/O, and they don't sign any players with it attached to them? 3 first round picks may crash this website on draft day

It would be absolutely amazing to have 3 picks though.

I believe under the new rules, we'd only get a sandwich pick after the first if a player signed for more than 50 million. ERod might, but no way JD would. So, we could expect at most for him we'd get a pick at the end of the second round.

The Red Sox QO compensation would be after Competitive Balance Round B (before the third round).
The $50m thing is for teams that receive revenue sharing.

As Belichick does with the Pats, I hope the Sox don't get sentimental and look to keep players too long. Better to let them go sooner vs a year or two later. In this case, the player has a choice, so that adds another big variable. Regardless, Boston will end up with a combination of draft compensation or dollars to otherwise allocate (Devers?) should players end up elsewhere. However it all works out, 2021 was a great year and I'm excited about the future!

I like Hayden Dunhurst a lot. Have to let the season play out, but right now probably Parada then Susac/Dunhurst for me? Thing to watch is if the power moves in the right direction. Definitely a deep class of college backstops.

The MLB Draft League announced its schedule for 2022 and it will be split into two parts: first half for draft prospects and the second half for those players who have exhausted their amateur status. The first half ends right before the All-Star break, which means the draft is probably going to be during All-Star Weekend again this year. www.mlb.com/news/mlb-draft-league-announces-2022-schedule-and-expanded-format

The Red Sox should receive a compensatory draft pick after Competitive Balance Round B in 2022 for losing E-Rod. Around the 75th or so pick...should be worth around $850k or so.

So as of now, the Sox should have 4 picks in the top 80.

If the Sox sign a QO player do they lose their top 2nd round pick (#41)? Thanks.

If the Sox sign a QO player do they lose their top 2nd round pick (#41)? Thanks. Pick #41 was awarded to Boston by mlb after the second round pick, Fabian, declined to sign. It is not available to be passed to another team. The pick , then, from the Red Sox would be its normal second round pick should the team sign a QO rejected player. That pick is #57.

Really been enjoying the Prospect Live reviews so far. Really intending to be more locked into the draft than I have been in previous years and this is a quality resource to start me off with.

Most MLB Draft content is either so wildly spaced out due to the regional nature of the sport that it can be hard to get one steady stream of quality content OR just simply behind a paywall, so Prospects Live has been a really awesome resource for all draft stuff

from a chat: "Jud Fabian" 4:02 What round will I be picked next year ? Anthony Franco 4:02 Really depends on how often he strikes out. If he comes out and makes a lot more contact than he did last season, I could see him winding up back in the top 20 4:03 But if he strikes out at 25% clip or something like that, he's probably in the third or fourth round. Somewhere similar to where the Cubs got Christian Franklin this year would be my guess www.jotcast.com/chat/mlbtr-chat-11-17-21-11880.html

The Red Sox cannot draft Fabian again without Fabian's permission.

The Red Sox cannot draft Fabian again without Fabian's permission. Is that an official rule, or just a gentleman's agreement?

Shocked I missed that, what thread was that under? Not a specific thread but gets thrown around each year when Oraj Anu gets mentioned. Going for the Anu hat trick in 2022.
