We made a good comeback but that wimpy base running decision not to tag on Bobbys fly to left cost us

Yankees had a 93% chance of winning and lost.
Rays had an 82% chance of winning and lost.
Red Sox had a 5% chance of winning and... well, they lost. But not before getting it up to a 44% chance of winning. If not for those dumb bloopy runs the Indians got early in the game the Red Sox would have had the lead going into the 9th and then Cora wouldn't have been bound by priestly edict to pass over his best relievers.
But I meet it all... with equanimity.

Anthony Rizzo makes the final out for the Yankees. Squandered opportunity for the Sox, but no ground lost. And Cruz made the last out of the Rays game. And Gallo made the last out of the previous Yankee inning.

The Red Sox didn't survive today, but neither did anyone else who should have won. Even Oakland lost. Red Sox still only 0.5 behind WC1. Small victory.

To state the obvious Pivetta's unavailability is what cost us.
Kutter tried but his stuff wasn't cutting it. Too big a hole to come back from. Yes the Sox mounted a comeback. But the problem is when you have to start bringing in the dross of your bullpen that early to finish out the game, it's very unlikely you'll prevent your opponent from scoring. One or two may have the breaks go right, but eventually you get to one of your relievers that has nothing that day.
Just got to hope that none of the other starters go down.

I hope he's vaccinated because if this wasn't a breakthrough case he might have just cost the Red Sox a win over it. Then again, with how bumpy he's been it wouldn't surprise me if he gave up 5 in 5. The only thing we know is that they weren't going to win with Kutter.

In fact our next 7 scheduled starters are Sale, Rodriguez, Eovaldi, Houck, Sale, Rodriguez, Eovaldi. It makes it a lot easier to stomach not pulling out a W in Kutter Crawford's emergency start.
(And yes, Pivetta was vaccinated, as Alex Speier mentioned in a tweet.)

The "dross" gave us 6IP of 1 run ball (that's why I am so frustrated), before AC went for the guy that threw 2 innings yesterday, although Richards and Whitlock were already warm.
I'm trying not the play the AC blame game here...let's just say it didn't work our like he intended.
