I don’t know if I want Iggy back (for fit, money reasons), but I really appreciate what he did. Guy played very well, did whatever was asked. I hope it gets him a good spot somewhere.

Two thoughts that come to mind:
1) The Red Sox had several incredible come-from-behind victories over the Yankees this season. One that never got enough credit for being an incredible win came on July 23rd. That's the one that Rodriguez started and left in the 2nd inning with a migraine. They were facing Cole, down 1-0, and the Yankees had runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out. The win expectancy was 28%, but that didn't take into account that we were facing Cole and that our starter had already left the game. Then Philips Valdez came in and threw 3 shutout innings with 7 Ks. The rest of the pen was solid as well, and they ended up winning 6-2. If they hadn't won that game they wouldn't be playing the wild card game at Fenway; instead the Yankees would be having a stress-free weekend and the Red Sox would be facing Toronto in a tie-breaker game.
2) Extend Devers.

It is a long season but this is a reminder that every game matters. Every win put them here. Devers bat has come alive and that along with steady contributions from the rest of the guys could carry them to some wins. Cole has not had a good September and has not delivered under the pressure of the race, lets hope that continues and Eovoldi can rise to the occasion. Go SOX!!

Use Sale too. The Yanks pitchers many just went 1 inning. They'll be rested. Luetege threw as many pitches as Houck in their blowout, but other than that they’re totally rested. It again comes down to whether or not the MFY’s offense cooled down in the Rays series. Our bats need to show up early, the MFY bullpen is not the Washington bullpen And just like in 2018 I've read how all the NY media around here are picking the Yanks and they keep mentioning the bullpen. Well the Sox again can use their starters. Not saying this team is 2018 but their talk of bullpen in this particular series is the same wrong take. The Sox can use their starters in the pen. And if I'm Cora, I would use Sale if the situation arises out of the bullpen.

Closing out the 9th, Pivetta became the 10th pitcher to record a save for Boston this season. Is that a team record? I wonder what the major league record is.

Closing out the 9th, Pivetta became the 10th pitcher to record a save for Boston this season. Is that a team record? I wonder what the major league record is. Six guys had saves in September/October. And none of them were the team's save leader. And the team's save runner-up had his last save on 9/1.
So, as of 9/1 (* = 3 inning save)
24 Barnes 11 Ottavino 1 Andriese (4/10, first of the year)
1 Whitlock (5/13) *
1 Valdez (6/6)
1 Houck (7/16) *
1 Richards (8/13) *
1 Robles (8/24)
So, two guys had 25 of the 28 close-game saves.
After:
Richards *
Whitlock Robles Taylor (9/11, giving them 5 different people for five successive saves, beginning with Ottavino; they had 6 wins and the 6th was a walk-off) Richards (ditto, if you're ignoring 3-inning saves)
And finally in the three October games: Robles Robles Pivetta
Furhermore, in addition to the 10 pitchers who had a save, there were 5 who had a relief win but not a save:
5 Samamura (1 in Sept.)
3 Rios 2 Hernandez
1 Brasier (in Sept.)
1 Davis (in Oct.)
So that's 9 guys with either a save or a relief wins in Sept./Oct.
