Meh. I wouldn’t go to wrestling to see Oatmeal Man. Give me faces and heels, but spare me a team that seems… unhateable? But they are SO hateable!
Reasons:
-tomahwak chop -stadium white flight -their being on tv all the damn time when I was growing up; the 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife of baseball broadcasts
It's a bit of a letdown from the Yankees and Astros though. Not a fan of the Rays, but it's hard to hate them because there are no fans to argue with.

"Boo hoo our stadium is 30 years old" is BAD. Screw those guys, they suck! Except Freddie Freeman, I like him.

No matter which teams are in the playoffs, something has got to give. You've got the Astros and Red Sox who can score 70 runs in a 7 game series against the Braves or Dodgers who can give up 7 runs in a 7 game series. I don't remember this much offense in the playoffs for the Red Sox. I bet they have at least 7 guys with an OPS over .800 without looking. The Sox had a stretch from Game 5 of the ALCS in 2007 through the end of the World Series - a 7 game stretch where they hammered the ball pretty well.

Oh man… now you are talking! I can always be convinced to hate yet another franchise! Keep this up and by the time this match up arrives (if it does), I’ll view it as an apocalyptic battle of good and evil, which is the only way I can enjoy sports.

As far as Verlander goes how much will the market say he is worth at 39 coming off TJ? That is the question. And the Sox should be abandoning the cap restraints for a few years at this point, IMO. Their will be contracts expiring and opt outs to contend with so I would be all for going big next year. Not overly big on a Correa or other 30m guy but Schwarber yes and some pitching upgrades. A stud high leverage reliever maybe. I think it would be a good year to get after it.

Verlander & Syndergaard can probably be had for 1-2 year deals - age being the drawback for Verlander and injury for Syndergaard. Try and find next years Robbie Ray who can be a top to middle line guy for a year while we develop the system and find cheaper and younger options.

Both of those guys could be steals. Their are a lot of guys who return from TJ and are very good, it might be the 2nd year but.

They did a similar thing with signing Richards - it just didn't work out like Robbie Ray. But it was a year & team option so it didn't hurt them much at all, keep swinging and eventually you'll find a diamond in the rough. I feel like Syndergaard could be an interesting option depending on what the Mets want to do in terms of the QO, it's not the Wilpons anymore so they could risk it.

Thing is both of those guys are horses. That's what makes me like their chances of being aces again.

I'm sorry but personally I don't get the infatuation with him. If he'd take a 1 year heavily incentive laden deal sure but other than that nope count me out. Even before the TJ surgery he was injury prone. I don't see him as an answer to the rotation.

Why the f*** is the Braves / Dodgers game starting at 2 PM local time instead of 1 PM, resulting in an almost certain conflict between the end of their game and the start of ours? Is that to punish Dodgers fans by putting the end of the game more squarely in rush hour?
I'm guessing that the network picked the time to maximize eyeballs on ads.
I don't know when the TV deals are up, but if MLb retained power over picking announcers and game times, it would help baseball, and in the long run might even be better for the networks.,

They're playing a different game in the NL. Charlie Morton is batting for himself with the bases loaded, while he is two batters away from starting the third time through the order

Charlie Morton is batting for himself with the bases loaded, while he is two batters away from starting the third time through the order I freaking hate the NL. The strategy was for him not to swing once so he didn't hit a DP. Why don't they just allow intentional strikeouts for the batting team? (rhetorical question, I know in case the pitcher accidentally walks him) Also, the Dodgers made two horrible defensive plays that both easily could have been errors in that inning. Lux dropped a fly ball at the wall in CF and Seager missed a ground ball that should have at least been a force out, leading to 4 runs.

They still hold out hope, like we do, that baseball games take 3 hours or less. Just wait for tomorrow when our 5-hour game goes into the first two hours of the NL game.

Mookie: on base 4 of 5 plate appearances, game-winning RBI. Mookie-mania in LA.

All the Braves have to do is win one game in LA and go back to Atlanta with a 3-2 lead - today was an absolute killer for them.

Chris Taylor with a 3 HR game, making himself some free agent money Would not mind seeing him in a Red Sox uniform but I think he's going to get a QO and probably too much money to justify it.

There are two ballparks in the major leagues that are just off-the-charts embarrassing.
