Two misplays by Devers in as many games, both scored as hits.

"He's had good swing but nothing to show for it. A pop-up and a strikeout."
Really?

Can't give them extra outs.
Good thing Kiké has a magnet in his glove.

I just don't get not going to Houck in the mid-innings in a game where your starter goes short. It's a 7 game series. You can't let them see him at every opportunity. They've worked with really good matchups so far. It's working so far so I can't complain against Cora. But let me add some context to my thinking rather than criticize, my logic is that you're going to want to use him once in Houston, and putting him in for the middle innings gives you a decision later that if he's hot you can ride him an extra inning or two to secure the win. All we need is one game down here. Game 1 is better than game 2 because it'll give him an extra day of rest before the 3 games in Boston, and you probably want to save the option for him to go twice there although ideally once. So in summary I think he's coming in tonight, it's just a matter of when.

So - what's the pitching plan here? We need 4 more shut down innings. Definitely want to take game 1 away - but need to save arms for tomorrow too. Brasier for one more? tap into the Houck/Whitlock/Pivetta group? Getting an inning from Sawamura or Hernandez would be great, but this game is too big - and too close - to risk.

So in summary I think he's coming in tonight, it's just a matter of when. That is fair, but perhaps they want to use him in more games in shorter stints? It would be tough for him to remain effective pitching 3-4 innings in 3-4 games.
