I would proabably make that deal. Lauer would be a solid back of the rotation arm. Quero is an interesting catching prospect. Don't know anything about the defense, but he put up some great numbers in a small sample size this year.
Another trade with the Brewers that makes sense to me would be Hunter Renfroe for Kolten Wong. Milwaukee needs a RF, and Wong would give the Sox a great glove at 2B, and a solid LH bat.

Wong was a guy I was interested in last year and in hindsight would have been the perfect fit for the Sox to have signed. I'd be all for that deal if Milwaukee would do it. Do that deal and sign Suzuki to play RF, very likely two subtle but possibly huge upgrades to the squad that would still leave them some good money to sign pitching.

If Suzuki is willing to play on the east coast, I see him as a real possibility.

So close! Right logic if Kiké is the new great glove at 2B. Plus prospects. But there's the fact that JBJ is no longer a solid LH bat.

Renfroe makes perfect sense for the Brew Crew.
I never considered JBJ. Why not take on a contract and add a couple of prospects? Now he can just go buy a LH hitting option at 2B. Johnathan Villar?
Opening up RF needed to happen if they were going to make any moves like Suzuki, or Schwarber. If Schwarber, he plays 1b against RHP and he or JD plays LF while the other DH against LHP, which moves Verdugo to RF.
