With two strikes, Brock Jones fouled a pitch straight back. It bounced off the Texas State catcher's testicles and ended up right in his bare throwing hand. He held on, showed the ump he'd caught strike three, and wobbled over to the dugout in clear discomfort.

I gotta say, every video I see of the Greenville, NC regional, it looks like a WILD time.
"We really don't need the whole commercial break/warm-up routine every time a new reliever comes into the game. It certainly made sense in 1884 when they only switched pitchers when the starter was attacked by pickaxe or caught consumption, and no reliever was warming up because he was busy gambling and drinking." - JD
I still think I'm going to wake up and say "I shouldn't listen to the podcast before bed, I dreamed the Sox signed a guy from Curaçao named Charlie Zink." - KOC

Vance Honeycutt hits his single-season program record 25th homer for UNC (they lost this game). Just a freshman, Honeycutt has some stuff to clean up, but this tools are deafening - one to watch in two years time. Also has the first 20-20 season in program history.

Texas A&M Baseball has been a heart attack on a platter these past couple weeks at their regional and Supers (lots of hard contact allowed by the pitchers, 17 runners left on base in a single game, horrendous defense), but they have found a way to win somehow every time and made it to Omaha.
All of that to say I, too, will be going up to Omaha and am very excited to get to see that environment. Might get my eye on some legit prospects too. Depending on who advances from our side of the bracket, here are the potential guys from MLB's rankings:
Virginia Tech: Gavin Cross, Tanner Schobel, Cade Hunter Oklahoma: Peyton Graham (a guy that could definitely be in the mix for the Sox in R1), Jake Bennett, Jimmy Crooks
And then if I'm understanding how the tournament format works, we'd potentially be on Tennessee's and Texas' side of the bracket as well, and both those teams are obviously loaded with prospects. Of course it could very well be Notre Dame and ECU which would be fun in their own right, but as a draft enthusiast I'd much prefer the two UT's
See you later Tennessee. I was wondering if Beck would flip off Notre Dame today or if you’d see highlights of their bench mother f’ing everybody on Notre Dame…but they got their butt kicked today. Classless vs Catholics…baseball Gods know.
Now they have more time to get their absurd warpaint off their face. I will be honest…all of it was perfectly symmetrical and what not. Must’ve taken a lot of time to apply. Maybe gilbert should’ve studied his scouting report more not to run on LaManna down 4 in the 8th…
Was Tennessee dominant? Absolutely. But treat the game and your opponent w respect, no matter what age, game, or level you are at.

Gotta feel for ECU, it seemed like their year to finally get to Omaha, and up 7-2 in the 8th in a clinch game, and they just couldn't close it out and yesterday from the huge delay to the blowout, just another year of heart ache in Greenville.

Got bad news about Catholics if you think flipping people off makes them classless trash

I'm assumimg soxinnj was going for the alliteration effect and not making a reference to the lack of classlessness of Catholics in general, though perhpas ND baseball in particular at least as compared to this iteration of the Vols.

There was apparently at least one Vols fan with a "Classless v Catholics" shirt, which is consistent with the way that the team and the fans have appropriated the "Classless" label in a sort of us-against-the-world type vibe.
I wonder if there's any thought of going to wood bats in college. There's so much offense, it's about as bad as little league now.
I spoke to a college coach about this a few years back. His response: "The national composite bat monopoly would never allow it."
I asked him for more and he said, "No one talks about it. We're all afraid of losing our sponsorships." which are basically free bats for the top 50 or so teams.
You can put your boots in the oven, but that don't make 'em biscuits.

Man I was really hoping that Jacob Gonzalez (sophomore SS, Ole Miss, one to watch for next year) would come into the postseason and show out. But honestly, been a little disappointed in what he's shown - not enough quite enough power on display, showing some issues against lefty offspeed, and occasionally struggling with the shift. Feeling less like he might challenge Dylan Crews at the top of the college position player leaderboard next season.
