Can we not have Nick Pivetta go through the order three times with a ten man bullpen WTF Bad enough Pivetta is a #5, but to leave him here is just bad managing. And of course our bullpen is 7 up and 7 down lol

Well, that's 8 losses in the last 9 games against the Yankees.
Fortunately that one Red Sox victory was in the game that ultimately mattered. Lol
Ah well, hopefully it doesn't turn into 9 losses in their last 10 tomorrow.

Pitching was pretty good today, lineup was not. They remind me of last years early season Sox. One aspect of the game shows up while another no-shows.

We all hate losing to the MFY. Not gonna get too worked up about it at this point. Said going into spring training I thought the team was a bat and two pitchers short and I still think so. I am sure Bloom is will do his best to improve the team in due time.

Well, two losses, but whatever. Mostly good signs, really. Defense looks great. Pitching has been solid. Break or two, and they are 2-0.

That’s fine. We’ve all watched enough baseball to know that humans are very unreliable at calling balls and strikes. Humans will be controlling the robot ump's strike zone. Just saying. Verdugo is moving so much better this season I can live with this. Baseball risks its credibility in a world where we can all see just how many calls are missed every night. Tennis was using this technology 30 years ago. It’s about time for baseball to catch up.

This series kind of reminds you why you don’t want to play teams like the Orioles in the early season. Stuff happens and the team needs to find its identity and gel and you could really lose to anyone at this point. Agreed with everyone, defense looks really good, everyone has had competent ABs (JBJ hasn’t looked incompetent at all), and the pitchers aren’t issuing too many free passes. Only gripe is that Cora should experiment with the bullpen now to figure out roles, today was Exhibit A.

The bottom 3rd of lineup seems to be showing warning signs of being an absolute black hole. Let’s hope that’s just concern and lack of patience on my part. I understand one hitter being rough if he’s exceptional defender but 3 feels to much to sustain a winning team. ( or not have to hit hrs to win or be perfect). Again, let’s hope I’m totally wrong

And, sure, a quick start is always preferred but, well, it's 2 games, right? I mean, this is a statistically insignificant sample. Remember last year how the Sox started 0-3 against the...Orioles? One could've drawn the same conclusions if not worse. And many of us here were rather upset about being swept by a team designed to tank (me included). Still, even at the pro level, they seem to give guys 100 PAs before making these kinds of assessments. Translation: Official concern/panic/calling for drastic line-up changes/"blowing it all up"/demanding Bloom's outright release, etc. should be held-off until at least the 40 to 50 game mark if they still look like this at that time. But, yes, grouse away in game threads.

That’s fine. We’ve all watched enough baseball to know that humans are very unreliable at calling balls and strikes. Humans will be controlling the robot ump's strike zone. Just saying. "Garbage in, garbage out" is one of the original computer programming phrases. With machines, at least the garbage will or should be consistent. Also remember that a recent and very exhaustive study which we've posted here showed that human umpires were wrong 50% of the time (50%!!) on contested fair/foul and safe/out calls. That's beyond an unacceptable fail rate. Even tougher to do it right on close (and over the last two days, not so close) calls with a spinning diving sphere moving at 95+ MPH over a short distance. And then there's the home team factor, which human umps are also susceptible to. I'll take a consistent strike zone any day over all that. And hey, Laz Diaz, Brian O'Nora, Hunter Wendlestedt, CB Bucknor, Mark Wegner, Dan Belino, Marty Foster, Chris Guccione and all the other movable strike zone/Ump Show guys don't have to lose their jobs (even though with their failure rates, they would be gone in virtually any other profession except politics or weather forecasting). They can still make nearly $500k plus benefits for 6 months work every year doing safe and out and fair and foul calls at the plate and around the field...at least, the ones they get right. So, yes, I have thoughts.

In fact league championships can be lost with slow starts. Dalbec strikeout issues. Bradley’s lack of anything at plate. And Vasquez issues have been transparent into part of last year. Now I get it’s early. But I hope this is on their radar to either improve via performance or be fixed via someone else. And 2 weeks from now it will be a problem not just potential problem

Can we get a win tonight, my honorable brothers !! I think my internal baseball clock hasn't started yet. Still feels like Spring Training. I really haven't been to manic over these games. They have been close games. Some unfortunate luck. Not enough offense.
Win one fellas !!
