It has certainly been fun to read the box scores for the Sox minors so far with all the great numbers guys are putting up. The pitching in Portland and the hitting in Greenville has been on fire so far. Victor Santos could warrant a big thank you to DD at some point, hell of a PTBNL.
Casas batting .194 with an obp of .350 is interesting. And the return on Renfroe is making that deal look rather smart so far. Maybe that deal will have a bunch of guys eating crow also at some point, I hope.

Casas is sporting a 0.150 BABIP right now yet still has an 0.866 OPS.

If there's one prospect that I'm not worried about its Casas: He's drawing walks, making contact and lifting the ball in the air. He's doing exactly what you want him to do.

Gilberto has the highest swinging strike rate in the system so far, 28%. He was 13% last season.

I had a feeling the pitching would get going this year. Don’t forget all the talent that’s on the DL.

Gilberto has the highest swinging strike rate in the system so far, 28%. He was 13% last season. Without knowing anything and realizing that it’s a small sample still, I wonder if they’re tinkering with him and trying to tap into some of his raw power given his frame. Jimenez is a weird prospect in that he seemingly has a high ceiling in almost all facets of the game, his results in his first few years have not been bad at all, but he still seems so raw in almost every sense too. A lot needs to click, and it’s probably unlikely it does, but if so then look out. But his defense, approach, and even smaller things like CS% certainly give me pause.

Or put the ball in play and run like hell? That's what he used to do and that was the problem. Hitting .306 with a .345 obp and .405 slugging ain't gonna get it done when you're not a standout up-the-middle defender.

Darwinzon strikes out the side in the second, finishing the job with a nasty uh.. the batter didn't get into the batter's box in time.

Ryan Fitzgerald's triple was crushed, not too far from getting out completely to dead center.
