They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

First-place (15-8) Angels come to town.
For whatever reason, the Angels always seemed to be in Fenway on my birthday. I must've seen Rod Carew like five times.

Really tough AL East heavy and away games schedule to start the season has obviously gotten the Sox off to a bad start. For the next 2 months the Sox will play a home dominant schedule with no games vs Al East teams which should theoretically be a little easier. Then 17 out of 20 games to end the 1st half are against the MFYs, Bjays and Rays, that is a big wow to the schedule makers. The Sox could get their sh!t together and be fine at the break or that stretch of the schedule could basically end their season.
The silver lining to that is if this season truly ends up being a stinker the Sox will be able to be sellers at the deadline and get something for all the expiring contracts but it also provides an opportunity to fix the crooked record from this bad start. The 17 out of 20 against those 3 teams should be very interesting here on the game day thread. I can only imagine the levels of negativity or enthusiasm depending on a streak of losses or wins. The schedule makers have really outdone themselves and that isn't even mentioning the 14 straight at the end of the season against all AL East teams.

I keep hearing about this "Mike Trout" but after yesterday's 0-fer he's down to .324/.459/.721. Guessing he'll be little trouble.

At first blush, the Angels' Thor signing appears to be a coup but 11 Ks in 17 IP is interesting.
Of course, 10 Ks in 5 IP tonight would get those numbers back in line...

I was all in on Thor in the off-season. If he stays healthy, I will again be advocating for an extreme overpay on short years (3-4 years with buyout and team option in last year). Best pure pitcher on the market this coming free-agent season.

Damn. I really wanted him to play in LF, seeing the worst defensive OF I’ve ever seen (worst than Hanley, trust me) meeting the green monster would’ve been hilarious.
