WooSox start the game single (Duran), walk (Arauz), walk (Downs) to load the bases with no outs. Good thing they're not the BoSox!
EDIT: Casas sac fly... maybe they are the BoSox.
EDIT part deux: WooSox with RISP after loading the bases with no outs:
sac fly infield single that scored a run on a throwing error grounder to 1B with a runner thrown out at home K.
Very BoSoxian.

I know its still a small sample but I'm just gonna say it, call up Duran. What do they have to lose by sticking him in for JBJ? The major league team needs a serious shot in the arm. I say let's see if it's Duran. If he sinks again and they're still in it at the end of May-June they know they need to go get an OF. If he's solid then he can help them win games and they can cross off a potential need at the deadline.
Just one casual fans thoughts though.

Winckowski through 5 innings: 5IP 2H 1ER 0BB 8K (70 pitches, 50 strikes)
He's done after 5IP. Great outing for Winck.

What do they have to lose by sticking him in for JBJ? A significant drop off in defense. You're probably (ideally?) moving Verdugo to RF in that situation and putting Duran in LF. That said, I don't disagree if JBJ is going to keep hitting this poorly. We actually discuss this on the podcast we recorded on Tuesday I just need to produce.

I feel like Duran has the upside to offer far superior offense that would more than offset the defense downgrade. Then again he could just as easily look like he did last year and be overmatched and possibly make things worse with the defensive downgrade. Personally I've just seen enough of JBJ, he's hitting very much in like with how he did last year which is dreadful.

I think defense is hugely underrated and it's a shame there aren't better, more straightforward, intuitive and transparent metrics for it.
In the OF, we're talking not only about turning singles or doubles (and concomitant RBIs) into outs but the other way too, turning outs into singles or doubles and turning singles into doubles or triples (and concomitant runs).

Alderm Corredor is the first AA hitter to draw a walk from Walter who started the the count 0-2 with 2 swinging strikes. Terrible day all around.

Walter looks like he belongs in Boston. Promote him to AAA and see if he can keep it up.

I’ve never seen a prospect go from an afterthought in a Low-A bullpen to completely eviscerating AA as a starter in the span of a year. It’s absolutely insane.

With that K/BB ratio I'm not sure he belongs in the minors much longer. He's 25 years old. I hope he's not wasting bullets in AA.
Perhaps I'm being ridiculous as the jump from AAA to the majors seems larger these days and he'd be coming from AA. I think a good argument could be made that he belongs in AAA, at least...and if he has a dominant month there, then there's no reason he can't become a rotation candidate for Boston.
Of course with his pitching efficiency, he can come up to Boston, throw 60 pitches in 5 shutout innings and then get yanked, only to watch his offense not score and the bullpen get pounded. On the plus side, it would free up another starter to head to the bullpen and hopefully repair it.

All four balls were right around the strike zone and ball 4 was probably a strike. I know it doesn't matter but 40 strikeouts before walking someone is pretty insane. 39 and 1 is still wild.

Bello no-hit the Phillies affiliate for 7 innings (complete game?) with a kinda of meh 3/5 BB/K though.
