It’s still early, but Murphy has been doing a much better job against righties this year versus last year. We’ll see how it changes over the course of the season, but it’s a good start.
2021 OPS vs lefties: .401 2021 OPS vs righties: .914
2022 OPS vs lefties: .562 2022 OPS vs righties: .543

Chris Murphy with 6 Ks through 3 innings. 3 unearned runs in the first inning after a home run to Josh Ockimey though. Unearned because Izzy Wilson just plain dropped a fly ball. Then he was pulled for Brandon Howlett.
Add: Now apparently it’s Nick Sogard in right field and Cannon at third according to the broadcast team. So Wilson started in right and was replaced by Howlett and now Howlett has been replaced by Sogard.

Another great start by Murphy: 6 IP, 2 H, 3 R (0 ER), 3 BB, 10 Ks.

Liu out after two innings. He did throw 40 innings over those two innings, so hopefully not an injury. Line looked good there.
On another note, Northcut homered AGAIN. 12 on the year now, which is #2 in the minor leagues.

He drove in five of Reading's six runs.

Michael Gettys (yes, 2021 WooSox CF Michael Gettys) pitched two scoreless innings for the Drive today to run his pitching line for the season to: 7 G, 10.0 IP, 15 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 10 K
Still early but he's already better than Trey Ball [ducks].

When you're rocking a .383 OPS, that probably isn't what you want to be doing.

Potts has an OPS over .800 now… With a .299 OBP and 37.3% K rate. Textbook example of OPS skewing toward SLG. I hate to be too harsh on him, but despite hitting a few more homers, he's actually gone in the wrong direction in pretty much everything from his 2021 line.

I’d have been impressed with even a .700 with the way he started, he was so bad to start the year

Nevermind Potts, Two True Outcomes Northcut is breaking my brain right now. Here are his batting outcomes over the last 2 weeks, in 11 games.
21 strikeouts 10 outs on balls in play 8 home runs 3 singles 1 walk
.262/.279/.833

I know (think) it's because it is easier to calculate, but I'm just amazed that OBP gets used so much more than wOBA as the default for a single stat that shows how well a hitter is doing. The point of batting is to contribute to scoring runs. There's debate to be had about actual vs expected stats, but I'm not sure why someone would prefer OPS over wOBA. If someone does, I'd be interested in hearing why. That being said, probably in about 95% (total guess) or more of cases, ranking by wOBA and by OPS will give you very little difference (at least in my experience in OOTP), so that take is probably a complete over reaction.
