Bello sitting 97-98 on the stadium gun, but that thing moves. Has split a few bats in the first few frames.
My dad keeps commenting that his stuff doesn’t match his frame. The ball really does explode out of his hands. A lot of weak contact to the opposite field from both sides of the plate. They’re just late.
I’m a bit off of the LHH batters box so it’s tough to gauge the break on the offspeed, but honestly he has barely needed to use anything besides FB.

Well, if you weren't impressed that Bello's no hitter was only seven innings, he gave you another 3 2/3rds to start tonight.

.338/.476/.508 with a 14:9 BB:K

I know it's still relatively small sample size but has there been any thoughts in upgrading Bellos potential ceiling from mid rotation to starter to potential front of rotation starter? Guy has nasty stuff and is putting up pretty eye opening numbers. I guess it's hard to really project any pitching prospect as a potential front of the rotation guy, since it seems to be the most volatile group of prospects. Always seems like there's guys who come out of nowhere to become aces and guys who are highly touted that never put it together.
Either way just a question I had. I'll continue to have a fun time following Bello either way and hope he can reach that front end status someday. We're about dang due to see another home grown front of the rotation guy at some point hopefully soon.

This term is used too often.... but Bello.... the stature and demeanor and confidence and the way the ball explodes out of his smaller frame... and the nasty stuff.... kind of "Pedro-Esque"??

Interesting. Sounds like they're preparing those two either for a BOS spot start or piggyback duty sometime soon and they would pick the guy who fit the BOS schedule best. Seabold's turn would come up on Sunday in Texas, which is Whitlock's turn, whereas Winckowski's wouldn't come until Tuesday vs. HOU on five days rest, when Eovaldi would be scheduled.

Re: Downs D Courtesy of RSS That was pretty impressive. I think Story gets to that ball but his arm might be tested a bit.

Chris, if Downs were to hit well enough to be called up after Bogaerts accepts a hypothetical trade to the Cardinals, would Story move back to SS with Downs at 2B or would Story stay at 2B? Downs has been very good at SS this year. I was thinking about this today, although in the context of Xander walking next year. I'll say this - Downs might be the best defender of the three now, but I'm not sure what they'd do though in any combination thereof. It is very interesting that Downs is playing nothing but shortstop right now, although I guess there's no reason to get him work at 2B if he's playing SS well, because they're not going to bench Story. If you think he has a chance to stay at SS, you keep him there to maintain his value. The Sox have talked a lot about keeping Story at 2B unless there was a long-term injury to Bogaerts (obviously they're not talking about trading him). I wonder if Downs could change their minds if he keeps making highlight reel plays and only averages an error once in 14 games. The Reds bounced him between SS and 2B in his first year of low A but since then he's been 90% SS in the LAD and BOS systems. How long does he need to maintain his current levels of offensive and defensive play to get back in to the top 10... or even top 5?
