My, how our offense can create the most unexpected Cy Young candidates. Perez entered the game with a 2.10 ERA in 6 starts with a 0.99 WHIP.
Clearly the Rangers figured out how he can be successful and he's made some really good pitches today.
I recall last year around this time, he was leading the league in called third strikes. He was a big part of the Sox racing out to an early division lead. Didn't fall apart until later.
If my memory serves right that was Perez MO on the sox. Get off to solid starts and run out of gas or something and turn into a pumpkin. He obviously is off to a better start than anything he ever did on the sox though.

Not just Perez/today. It's been a general theme for a few years

Then he'd get bombed and his ERA would be around 5.

The Reds threw a no hitter and lost 1 to 0... such a beautiful baseball aberration.

Brasier in, Semien breaks an 0-for-27.
EDIT: The rest of the Rangers bats seem to be waking up too...

Weird how last season the Red Sox staff was so stingy in regards to giving up homeruns - especially early in the year. This season it is a different tale. A frustrating tale.

Braiser is the 10th man.
For the other team, of course, but he still...

Haven't we had enough of the Brasier experience?? He's still got an option left but they haven't used it yet.
However, as the boys pointed out on the podcast, most of the guys available on the 40-man are either starters who aren't ready or Philips Valdez.

Welp, Brasier gave us some good innings, was a big contributor to the 2018 team and hung around long enough to make some decent money. I think we can all walk away from this relationship satisfied.

Still can't decide if we are trying to win, or trying to tank.

Look...it was a couple of bad pitches. The current score isn't indicative of the game play. We got opportunity to pick up Brasier. The kind of opportunity other Sox teams in recent years thrived on.

Yes, the Red Sox alsso figured out how he can be successful, but then they forgot I guess.
