If you could sign Matthew Tkachuk to a long term deal 9-10 million for 7 years, would you trade some combination of Jake DeBrusk ($4 million AAV), Brandon Carlo ($4.1M), Matt Grzelcyk ($3.7M) and Mike Reilly ($3M) and a number one pick? If so, would the Flames also do so. I gotta imagine there are better offers on the table. Jimmy Murphy said that the "ask" would start with either Pasta or McAvoy (per a source of his) but we know it wouldn't take that much (the public declaration that he wouldn't sign long-term hurts CGY's leverage). But it's hard to envision a package that DOESN'T start there beating other offers. NJD would seem to be a match as they could offer some significant young/controllable assets (Bratt, Mercer, picks/prospects).

I wonder how long it takes to find out about Bergeron and Krejci.
I’m hoping lysell breaks camp.

Read that Bs might want Zacha and Pasta figured out first so they'll have a better understanding of how much bonus overage they are willing to take on next year.

There is a part of me that wonders if Krejci is the lock that's its being reported to be.

Bergeron announced. 2.5 Cap hit for this year with 2.5 bonus (will roll over to next year's cap if achieved and no room is created).
Seems like Krejci is getting announced soon based on Bruins Twitter feed.

Would like to see some space created over the course of the season (to absorb some of the bonus overage so it doesn't hit next year) but it's hard not to LOVE these deals.
Should hear about Zacha this week too since his hearing is the 11th.

Bruins just tweeted a picture of Zacha so the announcement will follow.
Puckpedia saying it will be 1x3.5. UFA next offseason.

BTW - the timing of these announcements seems highly orchestrated.
So the next question is would they plan to announce these today without having 1 more announcement?
Today being August 8th? You know, 88.
EDIT - hadn't thought of this until Amelie Benjamin reminded me via her tweet.

They’ll have to clear about 2.2 mill to get under the cap, will be interesting to see how they choose to do it
Awesome day though. If Zacha plays well we will have a great chance at retaining him as he has so many connections in this area, including his fiancée

They can be 10% over until opening night. They COULD use LTIR but that could reduce leverage when it's time to trade to make room for a returnee.
The Zacha signing also opens up a 2nd buyout window since he was an arb guy. So that's a possibility.

Revisiting my math from previous postz:
- They can bury Wags to get to 1.1 over - They can buyout/bury Foligno and/or Nosek and replace with younger/cheaper options (Sweeney had said they won't buy anyone out but, again, they ha e another window to do so now). - Now they'll likely have to promote from within to replace McAvoy, Marchand and, maybe, Grzelcyk. They can use LTIR for that and then demote the players when the above are healthy (Studnicka would have to go through waivers so if he's up, it's likely permanent- I hope he gets a chance anyway). - Of course they can always try and trade someone like Foligno (may cost too much), Nosek (move Frédéric to 4th line C), Smith (Steen or Lysell on 3rd line) or maybe even Coyle (I think he can submit a list of teams that he can't be traded to; Studnicka or Zacha to 3rd line C).
Either way, there should be enough options that they won't get backed into a corner (like Vegas or CBJ) in trade negotiations.

Yeah I have high hopes for Lohrei, at the time people called his pick a reach but it appears the Bruins genuinely did know better than everybody else

People can critique the talent we have but one thing I like is P.J. Axelsson seems like he has a good eye in Sweden I think.

The Athletic is not a fan of their system but I read others who have a little (not much) more faith.

Looks like the plan, to start, will be:
Zacha/Bergeron/Debrusk Hall/Krejci/Pastrnak
Makes sense. Give Zacha a chance to play with a high level producing C but it's an easy switch when Marchand returns.
The most successful versions of L2 the last couple of years were
Hall/Haula/Pastrnak last year Hall/Krejci/Smith 2 years ago.
Combine the 2 for the best of both worlds??

A few questions that I have been thinking about.
1. Will Sweeney sign Pasta before the season starts? 2. What will the contract look like in years/aav? 3. How does the cap issue get resolved after Grez March and Mac come back? 4. Will Lysell break camp with the big club?

Bruins signed Anton Stralman to a PTO. Don't hate adding a legit D-man. Not close to what he was but as a 6th or 7th D man? Why not? Worth a shot.
Also, I didn't watch the first exhibition but sounds like Zboril was excellent.
