Hard to complain with the guys who blew this one. So do we think the ones that blew this one are keepers? They've pitched better than most of the others, but I have no confidence in them long term. Diekman has been pretty bad all year, 2 poorly timed 3-run HRs this year

This team definitely should not be buying at the deadline.

Shaping up to be a terrible sports night. Celtics losing at home and the Sox have blown a 6 run lead at home against a crappy Orioles team.
The bullpen is so bad. They have nobody they can count on in the 9th inning. I wonder how bad their ERA is in 9th innings and beyond when they go into the 9th tied or in a save situation. Really wish Bloom would have gotten a proven closer.

We should start making calls to see what we can get for JD.

Whatever they do to fix the bullpen, whether it be internal prospect options or trades, it can't wait until the deadline. Something needs to change ASAP because the rest of the team is performing and this is the team's best shot at cementing themselves in playoff contention, can't afford to waste it by need 10 run leads in every game

After every loss I'm dreaming of all the prospects we can trade for
After every win I'm dreaming of ruining the seasons of the Yankees, Blue Jays and Rays in the playoffs.

At least this blown save was blown by pitchers who belong in the majors. I can live with this in comparison to the other dozen

Weird to say, but maybe they needed a game like this for an honest reset. Things had been going their way the last 4 series. They thought this game was sealed at 6-0 and 8-2. And it's the Orioles. Well like someone else said, the Orioles are a better team than in the past. Getting embarrassed tonight might help them in the long run for the remainder of this series. We can only hope.

At least we didn’t lose by 1 run, that was a spectacular implosion

We should start making calls to see what we can get for JD. Nobody gives sure thing starters for anyone anymore. I don’t think a half year of Martinez, Bogaerts, and Martinez net the Sox enough to fold on a season where they’re a few games out of the playoffs

the Orioles have some lockdown relief pitchers that the Sox severely lack. I guess that all the years of drafting early in the rounds has finallly come to fruition.

The Sox also had a late flight last night while the O's were ordering room service and playing Fortnite in their hotel.

I'll read the thread later but I'm pretty sure I've got nothing to add that wasn't said several times.
I did want to comment on Apple TV. What a pleasure, from the high tech cameras to the improved internet feed to the great interaction of the three announcers. Melody Newman and Cliff Floyd were a particularly good combo with each constantly adding something relevant to what the other said without going into endless dribble about what shoes they wore tonight.

The team has won four straight series, is going to win this one, and is the hottest offense on this side of the Sun.

Frustrating loss. Another very winnable game given away.
Lack of a good closer has cost them. The knee jerk fix is to move Houck back to the rotation and close with Whitlock.
They might have no choice but to ultimately do that. If they do, they're sabotaging the experience he needs to become a #2/#3 type starter, which would really be a damn shame.
I honestly think if they had a competent closer, they'd be 25-20 and battling for a lead wild card rather than 21-24 and on the outside looking in.
Go Celtics!

There are basically no keepers but we’re playing moneyball and have a bullpen full of middle delivers who are getting paid to be middle relievers (aside from Barnes who is a insult to the sport at this point).

Surprised the Red Sox are only -160 favorites home against the Orioles with Whitlock on the mound. If you bet on the O’s tonight, you really earned that one. What a brutal loss for the Sox.
