Brandon Walter debuts in Worcester tonight. Good luck to him as he progresses toward Boston.
Bello, Walter, Winckowski, German, and Politi give Bloom probably the best possible upgrades to the pitching staff in Boston for the rest of this season. Watching Bloom operate over the last couple years, I would guess some of these guy will get opportunities or additional opportunities before Bloom trades away some of his prospects.

Brandon Walter makes Khalil Lee look silly with a slider. First AAA K
Easy groundout, easy strikeout, easy groundout
Nice 1st AAA inning kid

They should’ve paired him with the better defensive catcher in Wong imo. Making your AAA debut is challenging enough, having a better framer would’ve helped.

Walter chased in the second. Reminiscent of Winckowski's Boston debut - walked a guy, hit a guy, after having great command at his prior level.

Darn - the umps saw some lightning in Salem right when Blaze was coming up with the bases loaded. The starter had been laboring, he had just thrown 8 straight balls to Mayer and Hickey.
Rain delay in Salem, likely for the next hour.

Mayer just keeps racking up the doubles. Not every statistical indicator is pointing his way (K rate comparisons made the other day on the mind) but you've gotta think that evens out. Hard not to be really optimistic about his future so long as it all holds together physically.

Murphy walked a batter in the 7th and was pulled. Final line was 6.1IP, 1H, 1ER, 2BB 9K

Hard not to be really optimistic about his future so long as it all holds together physically. He swung at 5 pitches in that game and came up empty on 4 of them. That’s bad process, good results.

So he had one bad at-bat and overall went 1-2 with a walk, a double, and 2 rbi
I don’t think that is a big deal, that seems like a completely fine and expected process for a teen in full season ball. Especially considering he hasn’t seen a ton of action lately

Walter's fastball was only 90-91. Thought it was more like 92-94. Hope it was just nerves.

Especially considering he hasn’t seen a ton of action lately The walk was a 4 pitch BB and the pitcher walked the next batter on 4 straight balls too. Scouting the stat lines can be misleading. Just to be clear, all I'm saying is that the kid has a shown *signs* of a major flaw in his game in the CPX and the CL. I hope it gets adressed.

That ain’t that much better if so (my apologies if you are watching) I don’t think it’s this massive flaw like you seem to think it is. Kids making a lot of high quality contact as a teen in full season ball playing up the middle. I’d imagine the k rate is about league average. He was facing 16 + 17 year olds less than 200 AB’s ago. He was just battling a wrist issue. If he’s striking out 30% of the time in AA then I’ll grow concerned Im personally excited that he’s a teen SS who is impacting the ball in full season ball. He’s not a perfect player but I think he’s trending positively so far. Basically what I’m trying to say is that this doesn’t seem like a Gilberto situation (which kudos to you, you were the first who i saw that sniffed out Cedanne > Gilberto) where he’s just super raw and the numbers look good but are pretty hollow

Winckowski said the MLB ball felt different. I wonder if AAA uses the same ball as AA. Good point. I think the AAA ball and the MLB ball are the same, with the difference being that the balls in Fenway are kept in a humidor -- Winckowski said the ball felt "mushy" to him.
I think the seams on the AA and AAA balls are different, so maybe that is also an adjustment (don't tell Bello, though).

Also, Walter was working with a catcher that he has probably never worked with before or very little at most. It will be interesting to see how his next couple starts go.

Murphy walked a batter in the 7th and was pulled. Final line was 6.1IP, 1H, 1ER, 2BB 9K That slurvy breaking ball just eats up left handed hitters. It looks like a hanger then just disappears. He's got quite an arsenal if he can master the command and mixing his pitches he has mid-rotation starter written all over him, I can see him aging well also. Although the full wind-up might need tweaking

Two things I love to see from Murphy
1) Homers are way down
2) he’s been effective against RHH
Those were two things he struggled with last season. It’s good to see the progress

My eyes aren't good enough to be able to scout Salem video with their godawful camera angle.
