3 more hits for the collector Marvin Alcantara. Now 15-29 to start the season. 4 hit game for Alcantara. He's now 16-30.

Jose Mendez with a bomb today in the DSL too
He posted the rare .250/.508/.300 triple slash last season…classic DSL

Kavadas has kicked it into another gear in June. He was at .290/.476/.613/1.089 and that was before today when he went 3 for 3 with a double, home run, and two walks. 13 walks to 12 Ks in June. His Ks are still in general a little high, but he’s a guy that could easily move up to Greenville.

Post that will get Chris Hatfield mad:
If Marvin goes 19-74 (.257), then he'll have the same AB/H numbers as Rafael Devers on the day he got a midseason promotion out of the DSL.

Alvarez just beasting. He's a boy among toddlers.
I haven't been excited by a DSL kid since Johnfrank Salazar last year.

The thing with Kavadas is that he both has a plate approach that is 100% ready to be pushed and a swing path that may or may not work at higher levels. It's very slow pitch softball in that he hits the ball very hard, very high, but it's not like he's up there hunting for dingers. That make sense? But yeah he absolutely could be in Greenville right now. I think the problem is there still kind of isn't space until they're ready to move Binelas up.

But isn't Binelas kind of the exact same deal where he's proven that the approach works at the level but the swing might not at higher ones? I remember you shot down the notion I raised like a month ago (which was obviously too early, but still) of a chain-1B promotion for this reason, I still stand behind it. Neither of them might be ready to hang at a more advanced level but given their ages and already existing experience I think it's worth finding out sooner rather than later.

Is he a slap hitter taking advantage of DSL defenses? Is he spraying line drives around the field with room to grow into his power? The stats are fun, but I want to hear some info from scouts too. It’ll probably be awhile before anything like that comes out though.

Maybe the better comp, because he's at a higher level, is Fitzy? They obviously have different body types (which allows Fitzy to play more than just 1B) but it seems like Fitzy locks himself in his Iron Man lab every night trying to turn himself into a Kavadas type at the plate.
Could Kavadas manage a .270/.343/.524 slash line at AAA eventually, with a 25.3/7.8 K/BB% (Fitzy's career AAA numbers)? That would seem like a good outcome for the big fella, right? And yet Fitzy, who can play passably at almost every position on the field, is still waiting for a call up with those numbers. Maybe getting Arauz (career .228/.303/.329 at AAA) out of the way will finally break the dam.
FREE FITZY!

I bet it won't take too much more for Bleis to get a promotion. They were talking about Salem before his FCL season even started. It’s a shame the NY-Penn Leagie is no more. Lowell would be ideal for him

Definitely not trying to give a scouting report here...but I can say just based on social media, he seems to me to be of the undersized infielder type, I'd assume with hitterish qualities and great bat-to-ball skills. I don't see much of a frame for (raw) power projection or anything but take that with a huge grain of salt. I'll admit that size/body type isn't the only thing that matters regarding power potential. I know nothing of the guy's bat speed or bat path. Rafaela is one recent example of a guy whose power production is a bit of surprise based on his appearance.

Got it.

I know there's not really room in AAA (maybe there is if Winckowski and Crawford are needed for a while), but feels like Murphy is all set at AA. He's going to pass the 100 IP mark at the end of this start or beginning of the next. Of course he struggled for the first third of those innings but he's got it figured it out

Home run #7 for Matthew Lugo in Greenville.
He had 4 in 418 ABs last year and already has 7 in 202 ABs this year.

What an easy friggin swing It's crazy, scouts talk about easy or effortless velocity, how about easy batspeed/power. I remember hearing about how the ball sounded different off his bat.... It was accurate.
