Not trying to get shouted down for prematurely promoting some guys but I feel like the best pitchers who could contribute by the end of this year are as follows (and it seems we'll likely add a Robles-esque fringe piece or two before the deadline just to be safe/catch lightning in a bottle). Starters:
Eovaldi Sale Pivetta Paxton Whitlock Wacha Hill Houck Winckowski
---------
Bello Walter Mata??
BP arms:
Strahm Diekman Taylor? ...Barnes?
------
German
I obv left off pretty much all the current BP arms but the cavalry seems to be coming from inside the house - how would you set up the rotation? are we piggybacking the f out of paxton and sale to preserve health? is there a path for a walter or a bello to be in the pen for the stretch run or am i being way too bullish?

Bello is clearly good enough to be at least a featured reliever if the playoffs started next week. He's already thrown a lot of innings though, they're probably not willing to let him throw 140 innings and THEN start pitching high intensity games in September and October. I'd like to see him called up sometime soon and throwing an easy 2-3 innings in relief on regular 4 days rest to help get us in the playoffs.

I've been thinking about this too, and it's subject to change of course.
I'm guessing they'd have a five man bench, between Plawekci, Franchy (when Dalbec starts), Duran (with Hernandez in CF), Refsnyder, and Arroyo.
That means 12 on the pitching staff or an 8 man pen which makes sense.
So I would tentatively pencil in:
Starters:
Eovaldi Pivetta Sale Wacha
Bullpen: Closer to be added via trade Houck Whitlock Schreiber Strahm Taylor Diekman Hill (long relief if starter gets bombed)
That means on the outside looking in:
Paxton (is he going to be healthy?) Winchowski (another option over Hill if Hill struggles) Brasier Davis Robles Barnes (not really an option at this point) Sawamura Danish Bello (will he be ready and have a fresh arm?) German (hard to see him making that leap this year) Mata (same as German)
The guys on the bubble or looking in from the outside mostly aren't that bad and viable options if the guys I have in the top 12 are either injured or become ineffective. That's some pretty good depth, but I would feel better with a reliable, hopefully experienced, closer.
If one of the starters is injured or ineffective, maybe Bello gets a spot? Hill or Winchowski are options as well.
Young hard throwers like Bello, Mata, or German can be candidates for the pen along with retreads like Sawamura and Brasier.
Interesting options they have. And of course there's always the use the starter as a reliever on his off day thing that Cora likes to do, although I'd hope his pen would be good enough that he doesn't have to rob Peter to pay Paul like he has had to do in the past in October.
