They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Sampson gives up bombs
We sent Bracho to the Braves for cash
Basically swapped Bracho out for Norwood on the depth chart

Seabold is back in Worcester -- can they bring him back up to pitch Sunday without an injury to someone else?
If not, maybe Crawford gets the call, as he's on regular rest.

Last season, the Red Sox had only three starts come from outside their top seven starters out of 162 total.
This season, they have already had four starts come from outside their top seven starters through 76 games.

Sunday's TBD should be Wacha on regular rest. Not sure why they haven't committed to that. Last thing we need now is someone who can't take their regulat turn, scramlbling the whole rotation.
If it is Wacha, you get the following for the homestand (4 days rest unless noted)
Rays Pivetta Seabold 7 or someone else (but not Bello, who would be on 3) Hill
Yankees Winkowsi Wacha Pivetta Sale (assuming one more rehab start on the 5th)
Note that in this series, Hill is going on 4 days rest and Wink on 6. They appear to have done that to get Wink against the MFY's and Hill against the Rays.
There was talk after Wednesday's same that Whitlock would be coming as a reliever. That suggests that Wink is in the rotation until Eovaldi returns--at least.

Cora said they want to give Wacha an extra day. It's expected to be Seabold. They need a 5th starter by Tuesday anyway, and this lets you use Seabold against the Cubs rather than the Rays (struggling offensively, but still, more objectively important game).

Whitlock has to go to the bullpen. Nobody does what he can do. I was pissed about the Toronto series but looking back we can hang with them.

Alternate version with Seabold on Sunday
Rays Pivetta Sale Hill (or Wacha 6)
Yankees Wacha 7 (or Hill 5)
Winkowsi 5
Pivetta Sale

If we win the series we get Contreras, if they win they get Vazquez. NBA Street rules.

I appreciate him for putting the team first. He’ll be needed in September, even if he cools off at the plate that speed is a threat off the bench.

Good to see. Even if a person does not believe in the efficacy of the vaccine they should go ahead and get it done because it takes two seconds and at worse your arm will hurt for a day. On the other hand not getting the vaccine is a huge pain in the ass. The #1 thing I never got about the people rejecting the shot is it's not like they refuse all medical and non-medical treatment. Some of them even take medication intended for animals. It would make sense if a person completely refused all forms of treatment because they believed the body will heal itself or the lord will heal them. But to refuse the vaccine but use Sheep Drench just seems about a dumb as it gets.

But to refuse the vaccine but use Sheep Drench just seems about a dumb as it gets. It's because the vax became a proxy for so many other beliefs and leanings. Whatever, I'm glad Duran is getting the vax and will be available the next time the RS are in Toronto. Gotta say, though, I'm cynical about his claim that he changed his mind because he loves BB. He didn't love BB before this last series? He's also blowing smoke up our butts when he says he doesn't care about service time. What player doesn't care about when he'll get a chance to greatly increase his earnings through arb and FA? Oh, I forgot, he doesn't care about money either.

Imagine you can generate or have a potential to get a run every time he gets up. He doesn’t have to get base hits, walks, makes the fielder rush his throw. Then steal 2nd. Let the big dogs drive him in.

Some of you may be interested to learn that Duran hit a leadoff home run!

It would be nice if we could trade those 60 games against the Yankees, Rays and Blue Jays for 60 against the Reds, Brewers and Cubs.

Duran starting to remind me of 2007 Ellsbury. Only with a tat sleeve instead of a red sleeve.

Remember Kalish, too bad he was injury prone. The org favored Kalish over Nava (whom Farrell inexplicably hated). More's the pity in both cases.

does anyone know what the meaning of pitchers extending their thumb and pinky (like Longhorns) with a shake of the head means ?
