Good to know he would have walked him anyways without the wild pitch needed.

I love how they put the guy with control problems in with the bases loaded. How could that go wrong? ....and your catcher down on a knee so that he has no ability to move side-to-side

Why is Robles sabotaging us so much. Is he working for the yankees? Bring up Bello immediately. His stuff is better than anyone in the bullpen. Don’t let him hit his innings limit in Worcester.

Some tough decisions by the coaching staff the past 2 innings: sticking with Hill a little too long, that bad send by Febles on the shallow single to center field by Duran, and sticking with Robles way too long.
Happens from time to time but nevertheless frustrating.

....and your catcher down on a knee so that he has no ability to move side-to-side Thats why he hasnt be extended. His days are numbered. Well that and he's a 30-year-old catcher with middle-of-the-pack numbers and an ever-growing midsection.

If the Sox lose this game, lot of the blame has to be on Cora. Leaving Hill in when he was clearly in pain in the third time through the order made no sense. I understand wanting to throw a righty out there for the Cubs 7-9 batters. But Robles should've been out as soon as Simmons walked. Can't let him face any actually good hitters, he needs to be DFA'd. Proceeds to leave Robles in far too long when he clearly didn't have it even after Morel. Then Diekman with the bases loaded when he's the least reliable guy available to throw strikes. Just a msterclass in bad bullpen managing.

I realize I may be slightly misremembering, but I can't actually recall Diekman ever *not* walking a guy. I was in the ballpark for the best inning of Diekman's life: The third game of the season in New York, when he struck out Judge, Stanton and Gallo with a one-run lead in the ninth. That was a lot of fun. Nothing else about the Diekman experience has been fun.

Does it seems JDM and Xander are just having okay-ish year? They just don't do a lot beside their high BA.

Does it seems JDM and Xander are just having okay-ish year? They just don't do a lot beside their high BA. I noticed the lack of power. So J.D is a free agent do the overpay or cut bait. Your DH needs to provide power.XMan days at SS are not to many seasons left. The problem with him is he is the face of the team.

Does it seems JDM and Xander are just having okay-ish year? They just don't do a lot beside their high BA. JDM .384 OBP/.498 SLG, Xander .397 OBP/.469 SLG. Those numbers transcend batting average. Either may be better suited to the #2 spot in the line-up with the high OBP, but really, other than HRs, which are down league-wide, those are good results.

Does it seems JDM and Xander are just having okay-ish year? They just don't do a lot beside their high BA. JDM, yes; his high BA is riding on the back of a ludicrous .390 BABIP that cannot be sustained, and the power outage is somewhat alarming.
Xander's power is down too, but he's like 9th in the majors in WAR. Can't really ask for more than that, can you?

I’m not sure what our GM is waiting for but 7 walk off losses, 16 blown saves and Robles in the bullpen get some arms. Is he patiently waiting for Whitlock to get back? Go get David Robertson or David Bednar which lengthens the pen makes Hauck/Whitlock a two Inning guy. One piece makes that bullpen good and Taylor is getting closer as well! If I’m a starter I don’t want to. give up the ball with Danish, Diekman, or Robles warming up.

Robertson has converted only 9 of 12 save opportunities. You people would run a guy like that out of town for lacking the closer mindset or whatever.
(To be clear, *I* don't care about saves. But if saves are your thing, Robertson has been rather meh.)

At least Chaim will get a free look at David Robertson now.. I dout Robertson is yet available. At least not without an Aplus offer. Sox have 6 pitchers on the IL. Not all are going to contribute but all could. These are the next guys up.

How does a guy from Alabama end up in the Marblehead of RI, Barrington? Not a fireballer but he throws strikes, knows what he's doing. Nice to have somebody like that.
