Jeter Downs now has 15 HRs - .214 BA - .798 OPS. Downs fortunes are looking up as he is hitting much better than earlier this year. If he keeps this up could he be the starting at 2B or SS with Story in 2023 (assuming Bogaerts is playing for another team)? The rest of 2022 will probably tell us a lot more.

Downs since 6/1: 20.3% K, .292 ISO, .197 BABIP, 122 wRC+
He’s actually mashing lately and his K% has greatly improved each month. Hopefully things are clicking for him

Hopefully Ward can restablish himself as a top 10 prospect again soon with his rehab. Excited about the early returns. He's a major league quality arm.

I know BA isn't everything but what does .214 in AAA equate to at a major league level? .175? It's nice that he's hitting for power and playing good defense, but if his hit tool winds up being that bad, I don't see how he has success in the majors where the pitching is tougher if he's struggling to hit in AAA so much.

Damn, didn’t know Paulino could play CF
de la Rosa looks like he’s got some high end offspeed stuff for his age. I wonder what the velo is sitting at
Maybe Gambrell comes back from TJ pumping 98. One can dream.

He actually seems like a mini-Story. He either goes 0-20 with 15 Ks or hits 8 bombs in a week.

Downs HR #15 Up to .214/.339/.459 in July he’s 13/20, 3 HRs, 3 2Bs, 4 steals and 23 total bases. SSS aside I love this response to his little taste of the show. He must've really liked the big league spread...

I'm excited that he's been an average of 4 years younger than the competition in his two AAA seasons (and basically skipped AA) and now he's starting to really come on (.264/.379/.583 in the last 4 weeks). He's a prospect and he's getting better. What's not to like?

If nothing else, LDLR's build suggests that he could stick as a starter. He's a thick young man.

Every time someone mentions the food in the big leagues I think of this, written by Chris Snow in July 2005 (after a few other food-related anecdotes, in a column that also included an interview with Cla Meredith):

Speaking of velo, I'm curious LDLR is at now Just went back, and the announcer said a 3-2 fastball the batter whiffed on was at 92.
