I've defended Wynn for years, I'm done. Never seen a player regress this much in recent memory.

I've defended Wynn for years, I'm done. Never seen a player regress this much in recent memory. It’s crazy. I’ve defended him a lot in the past too, just can’t anymore. He’s been so bad. Hell of a response drive from Zappe after looking a little rattled the drive before. Kids showing a lot of resilience and mental fortitude

TYQUAN! Yes!!! No expert, but a few of the film highlights I saw from college, he was so quick off the line that he'd get open so fast and have room to catch-and-go. I hope he and Mac can develop short/mid timing.

When the Browns weren't turning the ball over they were dropping Bressette's semi-accurate passes. Pats did a nice job running their offense around the great run by Stevenson. Could have put up 40 -if they hit the FG- on the Browns D, which was also bad. Zappe progresses into next week against the Bears and Bill has to pick a QB?

Zappe is so darn impressive the way he moves around the pocket and feels pressure for a rookie.

Credit to Bill, this draft class is looking STRONG. Like potentially franchise-altering strong.

So maybe that’s our answer… perhaps the Patriots are just matching here. Do you actually believe that? I really don’t have an opinion on the matter

Dugger and Onwenu (and Jennings who had 3 QBH today) in 2020 If we can ever get Uche on track we’ll be L-I-V-I-N

The offense I still have questions about, but Zappe looks incredible. Mac Jones has lost his job. There's no way you can put him back in when this whole teams looks this much more crisp and fluid. Zappe isn't throwing interceptions that are his fault, he knows when to throw it away, he was making some big plays and seems to have strong chemistry with everyone.
The defense has been beyond impressive. They were having some red zone issues, but otherwise they're awesome. I have to imagine thanks to the Lions and now the Browns this is the best 4th down defense in the league.
Incredible drafting the last two years. There was quite a drought, but the last two have been so good that their path back to glory might have been given a jumpstart, but they need Zappe or Mac to be at least Kirk Cousins good or it won't mean much.

Good win, The TE’S had a good game. The Browns were stacking the line taking care of the run and daring Zappe to beat them and the kid did it. We actually have 2 qb’s. Wynn has to go. Cannon outplaying him. Next week Monday night vs Bears.

I think it's probably likely that Bill will start Zappe against what now looks like a formidable jets team in 2 weeks. IF Zappe starts Monday night, against Bears.
To throw MJones in v. a top defensive club the first game back on a short week probably isn't the way to go. So maybe Jones will be back in 3weeks v.Indy.
If that is Bill's plan Zappe gets an easy game followed in 6 days by a tough game. That all gets set aside if Jones gets the Bears start Monday but I don't think that's happening.

JC Jackson benched and has been legitimately the worst corner in football this season
Bullet dodged on that front, yeeeeesh
I was pretty upset about him leaving but Jones/Jones/Mills/Jones has been playing pretty damn well. Only time the secondary gets beat is when Bryant is on the field

Is he really worse this year and a bullet dodged, or is it truly the Patriots system maximizing value on everyone? I always think this is why it’s so hard for us to resign our players - they want to be paid for the production they provide the Pats and we don’t want to give credit for what’s above that baseline. How many have met expectations after leaving us? It can’t be a long list, I’ll start it with Chandler Jones.

I guess it’s not really a bullet dodged since they never seemed to have any interest in retaining him, but damn that drop-off is shocking. I wasn’t expecting that He was banged up to start the season so maybe it’s that too

He's easily twice the player Mills has ever been playing man cover D in our system. We're just lucky some how Bill went from sucking at CB to being brilliant. Jack and Marcus Jones both look like players. Last game it was Jack Jones covering Cooper, not Mills.

The ballhawking skills are very apparent Marcus might be my fav pick of the draft. Game changer in the return game, looks to be very sticky in coverage in the slot

Bryant is only allowing an 118 QB rating when targeted.

Zappe looks better but they have been playing the worst defenses in football and they’ve actually had the QB under center and running some play action. Macs starts were under center was a run, shotgun was a pass and no one was open as a result. Zappe has been really good with what they’ve asked of him, I’m happy to see it, but you can’t compare the 2 at this point.

That's why I want to see Zappe against the Bears. Their run D sucks, yet their pass D in one of the best and overall rankings are good.
I don't think we have a QB controversy yet. Zappe moving in the pocket, his football IQ do give you something to think about though. Mac Jones before getting injured had one of his better games moving around. Heck let's call it what it was, his best game moving around. Zappe still looks twice as good at doing that, it’s so crazy impressive. It's just this natural feeling he seems to have in the pocket. Avoiding pressure and giving his receivers more time to get open.

I said it when they drafted Zappe he better be darn good after just drafting Jones. Well he is, at minimum you have a darn good backup QB.

How many have met expectations after leaving us? It can’t be a long list, I’ll start it with Chandler Jones. Ninko was on a pod with Chris Long a couple months back and talked on this very topic, as it pertained to him. Long was chiding him for passing up better $$$ elsewhere and Ninko admitted he was afraid to go elsewhere and fail (as he had prior to coming to Patriots). He didn't know if he could have a career elsewhere (plus he sounded as if he felt somewhat indebted to BB for his success). Love Ninko. Darius Butler has also roundabout spoken on the topic -- ie, he "didn't take the coaching" and so had to go elsewhere to make a career. Pats are very insistent on the technique they teach, which, likely contributes to the 2nd round pick churn, several of whom, like Butler, go on to have useful careers elsewhere. I'll also speculate they "trait-chase" on some of these 2nd rounders, probably feeling they can always sign an UDFA like JC and coach 'em up to useful or better. Btw, JC was not a "lockdown" corner here, 'tho he left & got paid like one. On the rare occasions he got a man-to-man assignment on a top receiver it didn't go well. Wasn't he the worst defender on the field in both late year Buffalo games? Diggs just killed him. Don't get me wrong, he was a fine and useful player and I was sad to see him go. But I'm also not surprised he's struggled. He's just not that good.
