I'm only half-watching. My kids have brought home a pestilence, and I was the last one to catch it. Two days of evacuating out of multiple orifices, and now on day two of no voice and uncontrollable coughing spells. The good news, I've lost ten pounds. Haven't weighted 200lbs in like 30 years. Envisioning you shooting mudd is a significant upgrade over the game. Thanks! It's peanut butter shits, if that helps you. Though thankfully that stage is over. Now my kids are taking advantage of the fact daddy can't yell by doing everything in their power to drive me insane. My son got his tick-tok account suspended by posting a picture of him dry humping the air in the nude. (he's 5) My autistic son is periodically jumping on my belly like a trampoline, and my ten year old daughter is livestreaming everything that is going on in our household to her friends. DCF will be here by Monday.

bombing your bullpen tryout is a right of passage here. Those who are strong will rise up from it.

In my 50 plus years of fandom, I do not ever recall the Red Sox having so many problems with a team 30 games under 500. Mind boggling really.

I’ll say it… this crew is entertaining. It is tough on a laugher to say much of anything, but Youk especially has been pretty funny. I could get behind him replacing Eck.

The donuts and hot dog chatter far more interesting than our team on the field.
KC. The Royals. Outhitting us 15-5.

Looking like around 78 and 84 final record. Its too bad it wasnt the old days where you could bring up more minor leaguers in Sept. It would be nice to see what some of them could do low leverage.

I haven't been able to watch the games so does anyone want to give an assessment on what Casas is struggling with?
The stat-line would say he's getting unlucky with his 1-for-20 BABIP but his xBA and batted ball data is saying that he's not getting good contact on the ball. Any thoughts on that?

The Royals own us. What else can you say ? LOL
Definitely playing out the string. Want a winning record, but I don't think that is going to happen.

I've never been able to get a grip on why he is so highly thought of. To be clear I've seen nothing of him other than some clips and looked at his scouting report and stats. He hasn't torn up any level for average or power. People who have seen him a lot and know a lot more about talent evaluation than I do (big understatement) are high on him and I suppose not concerned. Fingers crossed they are right.

At least all the people clamoring for German over the last month know why they weren’t in any hurry to call him up.

I'm not going to draw a conclusion on his being thrust into a game where the team was playing dead. It is going to be something to sort through the carnage off season - few players are showing much of anything recently.

Rumor has it that the entire team will be shipped to a wealthy community in Florida at season's end.

I don't share that assessment of his minor leagues. His OPS is always in the high-800s, rising each year, and was 35th in AAA among payers with 300+ PAs this year. But more impressive is the age he's doing this at - he only had 19 PAs this year against younger pitching (17 of which were likely his FCL stint). Prior to this year just 38 PAs against younger pitching. Of the 34 players above him in OPS, none are younger than him and only 4 are similar ages. Anyways, back to his Sox performance. His raw power was on display against Cole and his strike zone recognition is quite impressive. It's just perplexing that he's not barreling up much, which I can't imagine will sustain over time. It seems like he's following the Dustin Pedroia route for September callups. Pedroia had a 42 OPS+ in his 2006 call-up, Casas has a 44 OPS+ today.

That’ll come. He looks really relaxed, and he has been competitive at the plate. Duran came up and was made to look awful… that was discouraging. Casas looks like he belongs.

I'm not sure he's struggling other than he is being OVERLY patient. He's not attacking pitches right now at least from the at bats I've seen. I've been impressed with his batting eye but would like to see him be a bit more aggressive.
