Guardians vs Rays head to the 10th.....Why is the Ghost runner not appropriate for playoff games but it is for regular season games?? I think they've been pretty open that they just don't want to deal with stressing pitching staffs more during the 162 game grinnd

So this is what relief pitching is supposed to look like.

In 2023 will shifts be allowed in the playoffs? Will the little bases be used??

MLB existed for 100 years without that rule. There is NO need to keep it in there. If you have to do something to help pitching staffs, maybe you start that in the 12th, or something like that. But you have to give the games a chance to play out naturally first.

Good time to end it, as Gimenez was on deck going for the titanium sombrero. This was the 4th platinum sombrero in playoff history.
Fun fact, 6 strikeouts in a game have occurred 8 times in baseball history. Khalil Lee has the minor league record at 8.

And the Rays, ladies and gentlemen…. may we never be like them. They were ravaged by injuries and still found a way to make the playoffs and could have easily won either game.

Cleveland really seems to be peaking at the right time. They might just give the Yankees a hard time. I’m still worried about that offense, but the pitching is definitely legit.

And the Rays, ladies and gentlemen…. may we never be like them. Has anyone with any common sense ever suggested the Red Sox are going to be like the Rays? The RS payroll was $234 million this year. Tampa's was $118 million. I'm not seeing the resemblance.

FG has the MFY at 59.9 percent to win the DS. That sounds about right. But hey, the Franconas have a material chance. I'll watch.

They do run their organization the right way in that they maximize their results with the resources they have. How do you think they should run their organization? Keep in mind that their attendance was less than half of what the RS was this year and they have much lower-priced tickets and a less lucrative TV deal. I think you see everything through the lens of the MB trade. That seems odd to me, given that D-Dom had a lot more time to sign him than Bloom did. That's not a knock at D-Dom. He tried. Do you have it in for Bloom's HS team, too? I also don't recall anyone here saying Bloom is a genius.

Maximize resources? Maybe. Maximize boredom? Definitely. Their “innovations” have generally made the fame less fun to watch. Shifts, openers etc. might all light up the algorithms, but I never went to the ballpark excited to see who would pitch the second. And while they are rewarded with records that keep them in the running in regular season, they can’t do it in the post-season.

If Seattle pulls this off, it'll be the best day of the 2022 Red Sox season.

Today feels like Bowl season when a power conference ends up getting pantsed. If the Mariners hold on, it is an embarrassing performance by the “strong” AL East.
